welcome back to the kaiser report imax keyser time now to go to connor brown he's recently written a fantastic blog post at bitcoin reserve dot com titled bitcoin a bold american future we're going to get into it but 1st connor thanks for coming on thank you so much for having an accessory to be here so you've read some interesting things here so how is big coin and matter of national security let's get into that a little bit connor please certainly so national security can be broken down to a couple different elements but the ones i focus on here is energy independence and the ability or a nation to have its you know control of its own money. and i think that 1st energy independence decline is is very important because it can sort of reignite our energy sector are seeing a lot of issues in the energy sector receive a bunch of malinvestment you know a bunch of. energy companies that aren't necessarily as profitable as certain you know price of oil and so it coined by my own accord instead with that natural gas and this sort of digital i ply you can actually get much more money out of

the supreme court also has allowed for many professions, for example, there is a court case, brown versus connor, indicating any excessive force complaint must be evaluated, not only from the police perspective, but what an objectionable officer redo. this is not just the union rules, but the supreme court, providing a lot of protections for officers. >> that's interesting. that will have to be something we tackle as well. let's talk about this issue we are hearing about today, the oakland unified school district. this is the only district to have its own police department. two school board members want to dismantle the police department. what is a better alternative? they do encourage culture keepers. is that a better alternative in a situation like this? >> going to be very clear. i am not against police officers. i'm against bad public policy. when you include officers in school settings, it is generally bad public policy. what we see in the city of chicago when officers are the norm, we have an increase of harassment and arrests, and excessive force. things would normally go to the principal

project and also connor johnston is a crisis counselor for the life line what have you seen sort of with the nationwide protests and unrests? what have you seen >> for the black and brownthat young black and brown people between the ages of 5 and 12 are twice as likely to take their own lives >> reporter: wow. >> i know. then when you add in an lgbtq identity, it really puts a young person at risk >> reporter: it's a startling stat >> connor, i was so moved by your story and how you accessed the trevor lifeline when you were a teenager. i wanted to ask, when you think back to that first call that you made, how does that impact the way that you interact with people that call you today >> i called the line when i was in high school i don't remember exactly what was said, but i remember immediately when the counselor on the other end of the line picked up the phone that i immediately felt safe and for the first time felt like i couli talk about how i felt. i'm now so fortunate to be in a position where i can give that sense of security to young people i get to say to this young person everything i wanted to tell myself. >> reporter: wow >> yeah. we're so grateful to you t
