conor powell with the latest from our middle east newsroom. >> harris, efforts to secure the release of bowe bergdahl have hit a road block as the afghan taliban announced today they're suspending talks with the united states because of the, quote, complex political situation in afghanistan. the 27-year-old army sergeant has been held captive by the taliban since june of 2009. when he walked off his army base in eastern afghanistan. bergdahl is believed to be held in pakistan and is most likely in the custody of the pakistani taliban, not the afghan taliban, who captured him. the taliban did not explain today's statement, but as talks have progressed, there are a lot of different groups involved, including the pakistani and afghan government and several different taliban factions, which is only complicating negotiations. now, all of this comes as the white house is waiting on afghan president hamid karzai to sign a long-term security agreement between the two countries so the pentagon can then decide how many troops america will keep in afghanistan post-2014. karzai has refused to si
