the contra costa county works department said the road issues you're going to see around contra costa county have really been the result of previous storms but obviously this recent bout of storms didn't help the issue around contra costa county. i want to show you new video we got off alhambra valley road in the martinez area. one of those problem spots. we talk about problem spots from the storm, we're looking at shoulder areas, remote areas of contra costa county. some of the roads include alhambra valley road as we're showing you there. bear creek road and marsh creek road just to name a few. they have concrete barriers in place if you're driving in those areas, as well as temporary stop signs. unfortunately that's going to reduce some of the roads to a single lane. you're going to have to show patience works around the roads. as far as it goes, it is in the works we're told by contra costa county works. still need environmental clearances. not to mention federal fund request due to disaster areas from 2017 when we saw a lot of rain. it's unclear exactly when those permanent fixtu

(philippe)april rovero/mother- "joey was a senior at arizona state university, when he passed away tragically from a prescription drug overdose." that was nearly ten years ago. april rovero says her 21-year-old son joey had been legally prescribed xanax and oxycodone. but that he lost his life by combining the drugs with alcohol.april rovero/mother- "as young and healthy as he was, 21 years old, and you know, just completely healthy, uh, that's all it took to shutdown his breathing the night after being out with his friends. he went to sleep that night and he did not wake up. and, left his family just absolutely devestated." addiction wasn't the root cause of his death... though neglegence played a role. the doctor who prescribed joey the medicine was eventually found guilty of second deg

later this morning the contra costa county board of supervisors will decide whether or not to install 24 automatic license plate readers in discovery bay,een a number of serious crimes involving vehicles, criminals cut through the area because it is remote, it's located along highway 4, which is where a lot of these readers would be installed and criminals can escape easily to i-5 in minutes. other cities in the bay area already have cameras in place at intersections and other strategic locations. the contra costa county sheriff's office believes if discovery bay had already been using this technology, deputies could have identified suspects and/or made swifter arrests. >> i would put one on my house if i could. >> reporter: it's that bad? >> just we got a lot of people come from other cities, we got a lot of crime in the neighborhood. >> a lot of robberies and stuff, and going through the intersection and stuff like that, and they get the license plate and apprehend them. it's a lot easier. >> reporter: crime is a problem out here? >> yes. >> reporter: cut-through? >> yes, pretty muc
