the contra costa county fire department sprayed about 3,600 gal, of water on the cleared property. this is to keep the soil dust-free and moist and cool for the dogs, but i understand it also helps greatly in them locating scents. and one of the handlers likened it to a cup of soup, where if you open it, you can't smell very well when it's dry. but when you add water to it, it releases the scent, and that's thousand works for the dogs. we also had one of the dog handlers go up in the helicopter to take aerial photographs to plan for this morning's search. also yesterday, an excavation specialist from the alameda county sheriff office coroner's bureau came out to check out the property to plan nowhere this afternoon's digging. this morning about 5:00 a.m., we had six canine search teams. they were from the alameda county sheriff's office search and rescue team, and those were cadaver dogs. from the santa clara's office, canine search team, two different dogs here. human remains detection dogs and historical human remains detection dogs. the handalers were very appreciative of changi
