we are seeing a cooldown. 38hagerstown, this cooler air further and further east through the night and that's why we have a freeze watch own for carroll, frederick, out through hagerstown and beyond. freeze warnings up for extreme western maryland. you can see why. here is the good news, the red flag warnings which have covered most of the east coast, now confined to just the dc area and parts of northern virginia. south of baltimore. pg county south. so, this is good news for baltimore but you still have to be careful with any outdoor burning because the ground conditions are still extremely dry. just that the winds have let up some, the humidity crept up a little bit so it's not as a tinderbox. the wind gust around 20 to 30 miles an hour but most of that to the south and there is that humidity increasing the northwest up close to 60%. despite the fact it's breezy and cold the humidity coming up, hoping to oppress the wildfire concerns, the regional picture very active north of the maryland state line, at least in terms of showers and if you look closely winter showers, detroit, centr

and we have a cooldown happening midweek. as i mentioned, boy could we ever use the rain.e really, really well below what we should be in terms of the rain fall that is needed right now. farmers are suffering. 75 degrees at reagan national airport. today was our daytime high. 74 at dulles and at bwi, 76 degrees. unbelievable. and we're going to get warmer than that as we head into the end of the weekend. this hour, very comfortable outside. 72 at d.c. the same at gaithersburg. 77 at fredericksburg. 70 at winchester. cooler at cumberland. 71 at hagerstown. baltimore is 73 and annapolis at 70 degrees. as we take a look at the national temperatures, we have a frontal system moving its way across the country. pretty clear to see where things are much cooler. take a look at deep south. temperatures into the 80s. we are going to get the benefit of a nice warm southerly air flow on the ridge of high pressure that is off the southeast coast and that's going to help to boost our temperatures as we move into tomorrow. a little breezy, however, on the upside of that, it means it's go

we'll actually see some cooldown behind the next system that's coming our way.are going to be looking at a pretty good night tonight. you might want to take out the extra blanket because as temperatures go down to the middle 30s and lower 40s, we'll keep a brisk northwest breeze well throughout the night. the overnight temperatures for most are going to be right around 40 degrees. that includes gaithersburg 41 both for andrews air force base and for reagan national airport. but look at some of the other temperatures out here. closer to the blue ridge and even toward the southern portions of virginia we're dipping down into the 30s as well. overall sunday afternoon looks pretty promising. sunny skies. we'll get some high thin clouds late in the day but overall most of us should hit the upper 06s and -- hit the upper 60s and some of the southern locations may get into the lower 70s. culpeper 73. we should see 69 degrees up toward gaithersburg, one of the cooler pockets there and of course the panhandle of maryland a little chillier into the upper 50s as lower 60s.
