coolidge. he was born in a little house attached to the back of the store that his father operated. and then when he was four, he moved across the road to the building we now know as the coolidge homestead. this was an old-fashioned town for most americans of the sophisticated roaring 20s. this is quaint even back then. william jenney: grace, of course, spent some of the time just walking around. that was one of her great passions. she loved to walk, and so she would go down to the cemetery, especially after her son, calvin jr. died, to visit the gravesite there. she did a lot of knitting and other types of handwork while she was here and just enjoying the country air. william jenney: she was a burlington girl, grew up in the biggest town in vermont. and when she was growing up, her house had electricity and plumbing. when she came here, this was very much a country home still, and so no electricity or plumbing in the house where she stayed with her husband. william jenney: this is the kitchen

president coolidge was shown in a photograph as vice president using indian clubs, a form of exercise. these were weighted clubs you would raise and do calisthenics with. this particular picture was not at the white house but was a great picture of one of these in use. we have a pair of these and they were stamped with the word u.s. to represent they were government property. this bowling ball which is marked white house, it would have been used by a woman or child by the size, a little lighter weight than the standard issue. in 1947, president harry truman added the first white house bowling alley in the basement of the west wing. it was later moved to these active office building. in 1970, president richard nixon was a big bowler so he wanted a bowling alley as part of the residential complex. a new single lane white house bowling alley was created under the north lawn. when you are standing at pennsylvania avenue and seeing into the white house, there are things located under the north lawn. the children at the white house often found ways for recreation, including gym equipment, s

police rushed to 7th street near coolidge high school around 3:30 this morning. they said someone shot two men, one of them in the head. news 4's derrick ward is on the scene. derrick, what are police telling you? >> reporter: this is still a crime scene in terms of the investigation. take a look here. you are looking up tuckerman street toward georgia avenue. now here at the intersection of 7th and tuckerman police had a couple of vehicles up on tow trucks. they put them back down. they're still here. lots of evidence markers. we counted at least 13. so there are at least 13 pieces of evidence of various kinds that are being chronicled here. this happened early this morning at about 3:25. that's when police were called to this intersection. when they got here they found one adult who had been shot and a short distance away they found another person. both had been shot. now the first person they encountered had been shot multiple times. we don't know how many. one person has expired. the other person suffered what are called nonlife threatening injuries. again, p
