we have seen the bipartisan proposal going to be put forth by senators mccain and coons and before it was formally addressed, the president shooting it down. is there enough incentive on both sides here to come together and to have a meaningful discussion and to at least work with a proposal as opposed to shooting it down before it is formally introduced? >> if you look at the legislation, it is the legislation is i don't agree with what senator mccain and senator coons -- i think it was terrible. i think what the president offered was actually a very, very big -- a very generous, much more than was in the goodlatte bill, the secure america's future act, i think what the president offered was basically, you know, amnesty after about ten years to give security to our borders and to stop the visa lottery system, to end chain migration, all those things have been supported by chuck schumer and many of the democrats, not just supported, they voted for these things in the past, and you can just roll back on your old youtube videos and find many examples of that, and their voting records. w

yet if it is going to be bipartisan efforts, and other bipartisan efforts that john mccain and chris coons have been part of, so there is a spectrum of bills that are available, and on the house side, things are less clear about where this goes forward. paul ryan has been hesitant to -- but it seems like he make some sort of agreement with democrats last night to get the 70 votes he needed to get this bill across the house floor by 5:30 a.m. in the morning, and other thing to watch in the immigration debate is links to spending, and republicans have said they will not consider a link to spending and the note want to vote on something that is going to increase the military and achieve all of these priorities like health spending if it also means having an uncomfortable, difficult conversation about dreamers. it is polarizing and they wanted to be separate, and now it is separate and there's oxygen in the room because this budget deal finally passed. i think there's going to be more of an effort of having open conversations versus various groups meeting behind closed doors tried to come up w

senator coons: the great thing about a compromise, it solves two, as this case does, two real problems right in front of us. i am optimistic every democrat will support this bipartisan compromise and i'm hopeful we will get to 60 votes but there are some work to do in the next couple hours to clarify misunderstandings, to push back d.h.s. who is misclarifying it and why this is a strong bipartisan proposal that can pass the senate. >> and i wanted to add one more thing. having been involved in the comprehensive reform debate, if you remember that, strongly passed the senate. it was not easy. it was much bigger than this and we had 68 votes and we had 14 republicans voting for it. i think 11 of them are still here. senator klobuchar: no matter what kind of things are written in press releases, this group believes throwing partisan punches if we want for the rest of the year or we can get something done for the american people and that's what this bill is about. >> thank you, all.
