and corey lewandowski, the former campaign manager, today said that whoever was the last one to sign off on it including the campaign manager, who his replacement of course was paul manafort, who took his job after lewandowski was let go, said that whoever's let go signed off on it last ought to get fired. that's not likely. the trump campaign tends to circle the wagons in circumstances like this. and it takes lots and lots and lots of missteps. and whether it was a team of writers or one individual or somebody making excuses or coming up with a story that might have been accurate to explain it, at this point pretty much silence out of the trump campaign about it. as far as they're concerned, it's time to move on. >> it's also -- it's something to talk about around the coffee table. but melania trump's not running for anything. so i mean, in the main, what's the impact? >> reporter: well, the impact is it shows disarray in the campaign and at the convention at a time when this is supposed to be a celebration, when the republican party and the campaign itself is trying to really shape

it's just outside the realm of possibility. >> corey lewandowski, the argument that you hear from donaldrump, you didn't just hear it tonight on this subject. you've heard it for months. the system is rigged. you were inside that campaign and why does the campaign think the system is rigged and why does he tie it to so many things. >> it's the same argument bernie sanders made and it's the same argument that the people in the heartland make and people go to washington, d.c. and they're treated differently and get special priviledges and they get cars and the things american people don't get. the system is rigged. you whatio see many times is you see elected officials go into office and come out very wealth. >> is james comey -- >> no one is questioning his integrity. >> he's not questioning his integrity? >> it's not the job of the fbi director to determine that a prosecutor would not prosecute the case. his determination, his job is to present that evidence to a prosecutor to make their own determination and he said in his press conference that no prosecutor would move forward on this.

corey lewandowski has since been fired, and a couple months ago a veteran vetter was hired by the trump campaign. a.b. culvahouse, a man who you have to vet to find out his first name, which is arthur. why he doesn't like to admit that his first name is arthur is anyone's guess. a.b. culvahouse has been a lawyer on both sides of the republican presidential vetting process, helping potential nominees get through the vetting and conducting the vetting himself. most famously for john mccain's 2008 campaign. the campaign that produced the worst vice presidential nominee since spiro agnew who was chosen by richard nixon in 1968 and pled guilty to tax evasion in 1973. a.b. culvahouse led the vetting team that produced sarah palin and changed american politics perhaps forever. the trump children as first-time vetters cannot do worse than a.b. culvahouse did the last time he vetted a vice presidential nominee. what donald trump doesn't have on the vp list tonight is someone who can clearly help him in the polls. but according to the latest battleground state polls, he might not need much help.
