phil, what is cory lewandowski saying about testifying before the judiciary committee? >> for months house democrats have tried and mostly failed to get some of president trump's top advisers closest officials in his orbit to come to capitol hill and testify. testify publicly or behind closed doors. that is about to change. cory lewandowski one of the campaign manager for president trump in 2016, one of the closest outside advisers still today saying in a fox news radio interview he would be happy to come and testify in front of the committee. that follows the committee's decision to subpoena cory lewandowski to bring him to capitol hill for a public hearing on september 17th. now in the fox interview he said he would be willing to come up and testify and that he believed he needed to -- he would defend president trump and he needed to show that the investigation was a witch hunt. to give you a sense of how he plans on approaching that potential testimony. one of the key issues here is that cory lewandowski was involved in the central issues that the judiciary committee

joining us now is new jersey senator and democratic nominee cory booker. senator, thank you for being here. >> it's really good to be on, joy. thank you for having me. >> not a problem at all. let's talk a little bit about last night. you and senator biden really went head-to-head at certain points during the debate. you did drop the dipping in the kool-aid and don't know the flavor line which as a generation xer i appreciated. but the question you're going to have with senator biden is that he is very strong among african-americans. looking at this polling, steve kornacki sent this to me last night, voters 65 and older who are african-american, 58% support vice president biden. 27% among younger voters. it's the voters with the church hats that vote. the older folks vote. how do you chip into his record if he's the guy defending obama, who black voters love, and you're the guy contesting some of that obama/biden record? >> well, first of all, vice president biden has nearly 100% name recognition. i was very sober when my team told me when i started this c
