cornell? >> it was a violent weekend for police. we are live at foothill and d street here in hayward. this is where a police shooting came to a deadly end this week when a suspect tried to ram a hayward police car. it happened on sunday after police fired eight shots into a honda after police say the driver tried to ram the patrol car which had a civilian inside for a ride along. a passenger in the honda was killed and the driver crashed and ran away. police later caught up and arrested the suspect, 23-year-old. here is what a witness saw. >> i looked out and i saw the cops running to the car with the guy right around that little turn over there. i heard them say "face on the ground." that is gunfire from another shooting in san jose where a suspect tried to ram three police cars. it was one of several shootings involving bay area police in 24 hours including union city where an armed suspect was slot and killed, and daly city where a daly city police officer shot and killed a suspect near candlestick park after police say he raise

abc7 news reporter, cornell bernard, joins us. >> unbelievable story, the preschool teacher is facing child endangerment charges and will be in court later today here in san jose. parents of kids of the preschool are absolutely stunned by the news. police say this woman, 59 -year-old would lives here has worked on-and-off at the academy in morgan for five years but 20 years in child care. authorities believe she spiked a sippy cup of the children that were one and two. she was fired on-the-spot. >> she was preparing water and the co-worker witnessed her putting something in the water, in the sippy cups. >> i was sick to my stomach. i want to throw up. i am...sad. it is disturbing. >> the owner of the academy said in a statement the safety and welfare of children is the a top priority. our staff have chosen early childhood education because of their love of working with children. we do not know how many children may have been given the pills but all are okay. police have no motive for the crime other than wanting to get kids to go to sleep. we are live in san jose this morning for abc7

abc7 news reporter, cornell bernard, joins us. shots were fired?we can say the situation is still unfolding in presidio heights at jackson and spruce, the intersection is closed where a patrol car was rammed by a suspect driving a stolen taxicab police responded after getting reports a man was vandalizing a taxi not far from here standing on the roof of the cab. when the cab driver con con fronted the man the suspect stole the taxi. the cab was located here and the suspect rammed the patrol car. police fired shots at the suspect. we do have some new video in the abc7 news newsroom we want to show you. there was a short chase but police later found the taxi and found the suspect. the suspect was arrested near for the mason at the intersection here at bay streets it appears the suspect was not injureed from the gunfire. as far as a motive, we have no idea. police are still here on the scene and a very large police presence is here at jackson and spruce trying to put together the details of what happened here this morning. we are live in san francisco

abc7 news reporter, cornell bernard, joins us live from the emotional outpouring of grief. cornell?14-year-old marcus johnson was a wonderful friend at middle school in santa rosa. many cannot believe the tragic accident took his life over the weekend. marcus johnson was an 8th grader at the middle school and on sunday, friends, family, and teachers held a vigil to remember the young man the on saturday threes with one of two people in the pit area killed by an out of the control race car at the raceway park north of sacramento. the car was driven by marcus' own cousin, 17-year-old chase johnson, a senior at petaluma high school. the two were very close and shared a love of racing. >> we were in first grade and three would bring the race cars to our school for events. it was fun to see. >> i cannot thing of a worse tragedy. he and his cousin were as close as you can be. they raced the same raceways. >> racing was in marcus' blood, three was a fourth percent race car driver. the family liked to race winged sprint cars like the one seen here and a race won by his cousin. the cause is

cornell? >> still an active scene in east san jose.olice are trying to put folk exactly what happened yesterday. several vehicles were involved in this incident including undercover police cars but at the center of it all, a white be two door honda that remains on the scene. that car tried to run over the officer before the officer opened fire. we were over the scene minutes after it happened at 6:45 on monday night. police say san jose police were on a special task force in plain clothes and on a separate case when they spotted the two-door honda which turned out to be stolen. there was a short case. the sheriff deputies say the driver of the honda threw it in reverse, headed toward an officer who was out of the car and the officer fired one shot striking the driver if the head. witnesses wondered if the suspect knew the police were undercover. >> we heard these cars coming around the ice cream truck and we came out of our houses and they surrounded a car and we did not hear anything like "put your happens up" just heard two quick sho
