both wanted for the stabbing death of trent cornell-duranleau. lathem surrendered at the federal courthouse friday night. warren turned himself in to the san francisco police department. >> running the individual's name, we confirmed he had a warrant out of chicago for murder. >> reporter: 26-year-old cornell-duranleau was found dead on july 27th in lathem's chicago apartment. a police official said he was savagely murdered. police recovered what they believe to be the weapon in the attack. a broken knife blade. his death occurred on the same day that one of the suspects walked into a public library in lake geneva, wisconsin, and made a $1,000 cash donation in cornell-duranleau's name. >> any connection geneva? >> none whatsoever. >> reporter: on friday, lathem sent a video, which hasn't been released, to his family and friends, apologizing for his involvement in the murder, calling it, quote, the biggest mistake of his life. >> it's very typical in crimes of passion, which is what i think we can call this, for the person that committed the crime
