abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has new information on the accident. cornell? >> the swedish boat artemis was towed to clipper coffee on treasure island. this as close as we can get to the vessel. security surrounds the boat. the team from sweden was practicing yesterday on the bay for america's cup when tragedy struck. the 36-year-old crew member andrew simpson was killed when the boat capsized at 1:00 o'clock p.m. yesterday. sky 7 was overhead. ten crew members were rescued by simpson was not. he was underwater for at least ten minutes. paramedic spent 20 minutes trying to revise him but it was too late. >> the boat capsized. he was trapped. attempts to recess state him failed. >> we always watch this boat and the others and it was a surprise, we commended on watching them practice. it is sad to hear that someone died. >> the tragedy is less than two months before the start of the america's cup event. the bay area is looking forward to this event. investigators will be combing over the boat. they do not know what caused the boat to capsize but it is possible

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is on the scene. what are firefighters working on now, cornell? >> they are looking for hotspots in the fire right now. we can say that three people that live in the home, a couple and their elderly mother, all of them got out safely. check out the extensive damage to this home right now. all of the cars inside the garage completely destroyed and firefighters looking for hotspot s in the attic. we could see and somali the smoke from green -- greenbrae. the fire moves to three alarms quickly with ten engine companies responding with parts of the guest house open fire. >> the back building was fully engulfed and going in the garage . >> it took 45 minutes to put it out and the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious but the big concern is that there are so many trees here on good hill road and that was the big concern with the fire spreading to other parts of the house and other homes on this street. the red cross is here trying to render assistance which now is displaceed. you can see the extensive smoke and fire damage and a guest house

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is at the facility. cornell? >> very serious situation at lockheed martin under criminal. firefighters responded to a two alarm place just after 3:00 a.m. and a lot of the file fires have moved to the back side of the facility which is not visible. firefighters say this was an electrical fire which was centered to a work space area in a building only identified as building 150 on the west side of the complex but according to the sign in front it is where research is done on ballistic missile defense systems and airborne lasers. the sign prompted firefighters to approach this building with a lot of caution this morning. >> we had a swing her activated alarm and we responded. we confronted heavy smoke conditions at the front door. we moved into the center of the building and located an electrical fire which we extinguished. now we currently pushing the smoke out of the building and doing damage control. >> the interview done with the captain and this is a secure facility, this complex is huge, according to sunnyval

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us to tell us what led to the gunfire. >> we can say that on-ramp is still shut down to westbound 580 because of the police investigation with lots of sheriff deputy cars including the suspect vehicle which is still here. it has been shut down since 11:00 when an alameda sheriff deputy spotted a stolen car and pulled over the driver the driver got out and ran. the second person of the your tried it drive off, dragging that deputy a short distance. that is when another deputy opened fire, one suspect we are told was injured in that shooting, and was taken to the hospital. we don't know their condition at this hour. two people were arrested, they are now in custody. as if the deputy we believe he was not injured. again, westbound 580, the on-ramp to the castro valley boulevard westbound 580 on-ramp still shut down in castro valley and it will be some time befored up. we still see more sheriff deputies including highway patrol arriving to the scene to assist. again, if you live in this area, you may want to fine another alternative to work. we are in c

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins with the latest. >> it is a stunning town of events in the killing of leila fowler. police days ago looked for a suspect described only as man with long gray hair. the manhundred is over and leila fowler's brother is charged. a memorial remains outside the valley springs home where leila fowler was found murdered on april 27. her killing set off an intense manhunt cross calaveras county. her brother told police he was home at the time when he saw an intruder run from the house but authorities never found that suspect. days later, he joined the family at a vigil. we obscure his face because he is a juvenile. the boy was arrested on saturday at a fundraiser for the family. organizers say some people are demanding their money back but others have sympathy for the family. >> it turned to hurt and anger. people were angry we would continue to hold this thing so in our best interests we decided we were not going to do it. >> we feel sorry for the family because these poor people have lost two of their children. our hearts go out to them and our prayers. >>

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is at the scene with more information. >> this is quite a large responseling lockheed martin facility in sunnyvale. at least five engines from the sunnyvale fire department are on the scene. this was a two-alarm fire that came in 3:00 a.m. today. the fire centered to building 150. according to a sign that is where a strategic missile defense systems and airborne lasers are researched. a large response to this fire. there were employees at the time of the fire that were evacuated and standing around the parking lot. this is a secure government facility it has been difficult getting any information. we are waiting for a p.i.o. from the fire department, police department or someone from the lockheed martin organization to speak to us. it is the nation's largest missile defense contractor and they also are involved in aerospace research, as well. the fire was centered to this building. we don't know how many people work in here but firefighters continuing to enter the building. they have hoses rounding the entire building. we have not seen fire or smoke but th

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is on the scene. >> three people live in the house.e fire department all of them got out. that is the good news. this fire put up a lot of smoke. we could see and smell it as far as greenbrae. firefighters arrived on good hill road at 2:00 a.m. parts of the house were fully engulfed in flames. the fire quickly moved to three alarms. tenning encompanies from san rafael, and kent field and found the garage and parts of the guest house were engulfed. it took 45 minutes to put the fire out. fire investigators are on the scene. the cause is under investigation. firefighters told me it does not appear to be suspicious. the big concern in the neighborhood, it is so wooded, so many old-growth trees. that was the big concern that they would catch fire and move to other homes but quick action by the fire department prevented that from happening. the red cross here on the scene rendering aid to the family now displaced. hope to have more information on the fire at 5:00 a.m. >> thank you. we have breaking news from the oakland hills with another e

abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us with what we know of the latest violence. >> the first thing we noticed is how much police tape there is surrounding this crime seen which stretches at least half city block surrounding continue to -- 10 to 12 businesses in the, paing lot of a jack-in-the-box restaurant and san jose police say it was obvious the man had been assaulted. police are trying to confirm the age and identity of the victim. they say they have no suspects. police say they responded here after a motorist noticed a man acting strangely and we though up they found the body of a man located near dumpsters. this is a very busy part of blossom hill road. police hope someone saw something and they can bring some information. this is the 16th homicide in san jose of 2013. all police can say is they are looking at some evidence here. >> thank you. also in san jose, a man is questioned in connect with a triple stabbing that killed two and injured another around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. police say a 29-year-old ruben ramirez is a "person of interest" in the stabbing death of a on
