cornell bernard joins us live with a look at what people there are doing to prepare. cornell? >> reporter: rain is tapering off just a bit. all day long it's been a steady deluge. all eyes on this, this creek which looks more like a river today, no flood danger at this point, but officials will be monitoring all weekend. local folks just in case are getting ready. rain started thursday morning at the north bay and didn't let up for a second. water poured off highway 101. it made driving treacherous. >> we're ready for it. if it were to come. >> reporter: nancy lovely is talking about flooding. she manages a cat boarding business where high water has flooded businesses before. this is what it looked like back in 2005. nancy is ready with sandbags and this wooden flood barrier in case the nearby creek rises. >> previous flooding from years past, at least we're prepared just in case. >> our flood stage is around six feet. >> reporter: the fire department battalion chief is monitoring the creek, which is higher than four feet. flood stage is six feet. residents have been advised t

cornell bernard is live with the details. >> reporter: this news conference ended just a few minutes ago. a 49-year-old man was shot and killed after a 12-hour standoff, when officials say he bolted from the house and pointed a gun at deputies. sky 7 hd was over the home where deputies went to serve an arrest warrant on thursday night on the man for 12 counts of child molestation involving a 13-year-old foster child living in the home. the man was armed when he answered the door. he ran into the house, barricaded himself for hours. there was negotiations with police, but no luck. this morning, chemical agents were fired into the house to force him out. >> he exited a window of the residence, carrying a firearm. at which time he raised the firearm in the direction of our deputy sheriffs and the deputies, in fear of their life, fired and ultimately struck the subject. >> reporter: the sheriff officials showed us a picture of the hand gun used by the suspect during the standoff. s.w.a.t. team members safely evacuated family members inside the home. the name of the man has not yet been r

cornell bernard just stepped out of a news conference on the scary rescue, and joins us now with new details. cornell? >> reporter: just got an update from the fire department here at station 47. four firefighters were taken to the hospital. one will remain overnight. after suffering hypothermia. an investigation is underway after first responders found themselves in need of rescue. a routine training exercise for firefighters quickly became a rescue mission on the water. this firefighter still wet, standing in his bare feet, was one of six firefighters treason into the pacific. it happened during the training exerciser in the cliffhouse. seven firefighters aboard a 30-foot rescue fire boat when they got into trouble. >> conditions were calm. there was a big wave that came up. somebody called a rogue wave. and flipped the boat. >> first responders on jet skis were nearby but rescue everyone wasn't easy. >> the jet ski came to get one swimmer, or person in the water. the person grabbed on and all of a sudden a set came and the waves were breaking and the gentlemen ski had to level but
