joining us from madison, wisconsin, mayor pauling solin and from baltimore, oklahoma city, mike cornetttart with mayor soglin on this. this seems unusual that mayors, you know, of cities, local leaders, are weighing in on a big national and federal question, which is our involvement in foreign wars. why did you decide this was important? >> actually, there's a long tradition of making statements of this sort. it was done during the vietnam conflict, it was done during the '90s in regards to the so-called peace dividend, but it's very clear that as we spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year fighting these wars, our local infrastructure, our state infrastructure, our school infrastructure, continues to deteriorate and we know that infrastructure is slowing down private investment. >> mayor cornett, it's symbolic, right? there really isn't any ability of local mayors of cities to affect war policy at the federal level? >> no, that's absolutely right. we don't pretend to have the level of information about these types of situations that the executive branch is going to have or members

mayor michael coleman of columbus, ohio and mayor cornett, you have unemployment rate 4.5%, less than half the national rate. >> we're continuing to improve the quality of late. they're coming to oklahoma city, that's allowing the entrepreneurs and job creators to be sutsful. it's part of the culture and the community and we have spent over $1 billion on public improvements to try and improve the infrainstruct stur which i'm really concerned about much of america and the declining infrastructure, a lot of deferred maintenance not being addressed. >> mayor coleman, unemployment is 7.3%, also below the national average. people say mayor we need new jobs, what can you say to them? >> well, we're trying. we're working our hardest and our best to create jobs in the city of columbus and frankly, we're doing it in a very productive way. we have an effort called columbus 20/20 and our goal is to engage 150,000 jobs by the time 2020 comes around, but having said that, we need to help the federal government. we have efforts like cdbg and other efforts that are on the chopping block in congress,
