senator cornin over the weekend, who is a supporter of leader mcconnell's position on this, acknowledged there is a slippery slope. he explained that that is why they are trying to draw a hard line in refusing to consider the president's nominee. his view is -- those are his words. it is a slippery slope for what he said was an obama judge. that is why we feel like we made some progress here. progress it is evident from polls that have been conducted indicating it is not just democrats who oppose the australian that republicans have pursued it is even republican voters who are uncomfortable with the position taken by republican leaders. even republican voters believe members of the united states senasen senate should do their job and it is evident many republican officials are refusing to do the job they were elected to do and they are doing it because they are following the republican orders of the leader in washington, d.c. that is not a recipe for success because the last time i checked, and i am no political expert, but the public's view of the republican leadership in washington, d.

he deserves a hearing and i think i deserve to benefit from durbin and cornin and lee and others. [inaudible conversation] >> first of all, there is a section in the constitution that says it isn't my choice, the liberal people's choice but it is the president's choice. my job is to advice and consent. what the people of new jersey want me to do is provide that consent. there is no way to do that mately with a vote. so to me, this is a dramatic offense, not just to every voter in new jersey and every resident in new jersey because there are two senators who are not being able to do their jobs because other centers won't do theirs, specifically mcconnell and grassley are not holding hearings or allowing a vote. you could be sure if there was hearings some of the senators who do represent very -- or are champions of the liberal left, you can be sure a lot of these concerns would be brought up in a series of questions. a public forum that could benefit not only the senators but be a level of transparency that could be valuable for this country as a whole. >> did he tell you anything
