hundreds of years ago, a narrow land crossing at tintagel castle in cornwall collapsed into the sea, the new bridge will reconnect the site, for anyone brave enough to walk the crossing. fiona lamdin has been to see it, and a warning, her report contains flash photography. for centuries, tintagel castle has been split in half, divided by the sea. but, for the first time since the middle ages, the island and the mainland have been reunited with a new footbridge. people can actually walk from the original entrance, through the mainland courtyard, across this bridge over into the island where the great hall lies. it's about creating a sense of wonderfor people, and also for people to be able to understand the actual castle better. because they can actually progress through it as our ancestors did. it has taken nine months to build the 70—metre bridge, using 47 tonnes of steel and 40,000 cornish slate tiles. but it actually isn't a new concept. if you go back to the 15th century, the castle was still one, joined by a narrow neck of land before it eroded and fell into the sea. it is one o
