in the marine corps system, i cannot generate an award. the research and everything, but only a commissioned officer can start the award process. we have to decide what level that award was everything. they didn't want to just start throwing medals everywhere. although everyone was impressed with it, it really wasn't a big deal with it. the fact is i have great respect for what officers do. if he had been a second lieutenant and done that same thing, i guarantee you he would have gotten a silver star or navy cross. there is no doubt about it. i don't know how you fix that. the problem with infantry is they think you are just doing your job. when you are infantrymen, you are just killing bad guys, that is your job. take tea of guys and enveloped the enemy, and that is probably more than is normal. i don't know how to fix it, all i know is i complain about it and hopefully some people will get it. there are only two officers in my book. it is not because i'm against officers getting awards. the only other officer in there is a name -- is a g

what happened to that corps? >> well, bob, let me answer the second part of your question first on 215th corps then go to marjah and helmand. so the problems in 215th corps were several. they had problems with equipment maintenance, they had problems with units that had been atritted, they had problems with poor leadership. what we have found when units have an issue with attrition, it typically is traced back to poor leadership and there are three fundamental things that have to happen in a unit. soldiers have to be paid on time, fed on time and be given leave when they deserve leave and if one of those things or a combination of those things doesn't happen then the soldiers will leave. sometimes they'll come back but that's no way to run an organization. so the fix is not fist kated. it's having good leaders. having good leaders that take care of their soldiers. so that's why it's so important to get the right leadership in in 215th corps. so leaders have been replaced. they're going through the process of full

we did do a hearing that included the peace corps. i met with the director of the peace corps. they have a wonderful mission. they will actually have more people out serving around the world. we get more bang for a buck out of the peace corps than maybe any other foreign aid that goes out there and i could go on and explain not. in this particular case, and my concern is very critical of the obama administration, there was an olt opinion that lingered for a long time at the department of justice, but basically they came up with a new theory that had never been implemented before that has that there are certain teams at the inspector general act would not allow them to get access to. michael horvitz, who is the inspector general sheriff at the department of justice is very critical of this. and he happens to lead that group of inspectors general. there may be a new piece of legislation, that basically the stiff arm from the obama administration saying we don't want you to look at this stuff. that's a dangerous precedent. we rely on inspector general to go in and be the impartial

because i really wanted to stay in the marine corps test. which is 3 miles, 20 so when i couldn d problem and they pretty much were like "hey, there's nothing we can do. you might as well just try to get out." so i did. it was a huge letdown. because i was in limbo of picking up sergeant. i'm a black belt marine corps ma instructor.d i was doing pretty good in my career. to know that i could do better and be pretty much forced out because of my back, it was definitely i couldn't go...
