still looking at a category one hurricane with hurricane warnings in effect from corpus christi up the coastline. we have houston included in the tropical storm warning because you're looking at some tropical storm-force winds possible, the probability of tropical storm-force winds is increased seeing from places like victoria, texas, up towards houston, again, matagorda bay probably seeing some hurricane-force conditions because we're looking at that center getting pretty close there, winds up to 73 miles per hour possible from houston down towards corpus christi. again, looking at some intense winds over 75 miles possible storm surges increased ding with up to 46 feet, possible near port lavaca corpus christi, looking at some three to five feet of storm surge on top of this, we also have some flooding that is possible from the rain we're looking at up to five to ten inches of rain possible this cutoff will be very steep. if this track waivers at all, that can mean the difference between not much greene and incredibly dangerous flash flooding. so something to watch very closely, flood

we are finding the probability of tropical storm-force winds increasing for places like corpus christi and victoria, texas, houston to winds up to 73 house per hour possible. there you see in that orange color, something that we'll have to watch as the center of the storm comes on shore, we're also looking at storm surge that ocean water that just kinda gets lofted inland because of those wins could get up to three to five feet in some locations. so we'll have to watch that incredibly closely as well on top of it. this for taking a lot of tropical moisture pretty far inland. we already have a level three of four risk of flash flooding from victoria, texas up towards houston, even a pretty far inland because we're looking at rain totals of five to ten inches possible. some rain totals could even get up to 15 inches. so incredibly heavy rain, even from cnn, antonio austin, wake go texas up towards dallas, look at how heavy some of these rainfall totals can be. also when you have this spinning tropical system making landfall, that's where you can have some of these outer bands that have s

it's doeth got 60 mile per hour winds sitting more than 500 miles south and east of corpus christi. we're still talking about water temperatures here that are way above average, more typical of late august and early they september, which is why this is food and fuel for it. and we are expecting it to get back to hurricane strength as it heads towards texas. so we're still looking at a category one hurricane landfall sometimes sunday night into monday morning, hurricane watches in effect from brownsville up towards corpus christi of for this storm. and then all that moisture continues to work its way in when we're finding increasing chances of tropical storm-force winds, brown, corpus christi to victoria, texas, storm surge up to three to five feet possible as the onshore winds kinda turned into the coaston as well. and heavy rain up to five to ten inches are possible. as an that could cause some flash flooding. so we'll have to keep an eye out on that. plus we also have this risk of even some tornadoes. you have a spinning tropical system. so that's a threat as well. >> a lot to wat

we are closer to corpus christi. the next update will go further up the coast.mputer lines. these are different possibilities for the storm. only a couple in south texas. they are heading towards corpus christi. the right side is the worst side of the storm. everyone in houston is going, are you kidding me? that's a high possibility that inland areas -- we know how flood prone houston is -- could have serious water issues. the question of the wind, right now from a tropical storm -- i think worst case scenario is a category 2. that would be problematic for coastal areas. the inland water threat all day long monday. we know we will get the storm. we will have serious flooding issues because of the rain. what's to be determined is how bad the storm surge will be and how bad the winds will be. this is a small storm. small storms can get intense quickly. they can weaken very quickly. that's why we will be staring at this one until it makes landfall monday morning until we know for sure it's not going to surprise us and get a big burst of intensity right before makin

it's a tropical storm storm and it is likely going to come on in between corpus christi and houston. and that will happen about 1:00 in the morning, 2:00 in the morning our time on monday. and then beryl will keep going and this is where that interaction will happen. so now we've got this huge massive energy out here on this half of the country, which is putting the wave train in the atmosphere that will want to move from west to east. everything just got put on hold. because as beryl moves through. it burst its way through and takes over. it will put a block on that forward motion for a while. where we can kind of see what we are stuck under, you can see where beryl is. our heat wave, which would have kept moving off towards the east now. this is the week that we were suppose to see that heat dome and that big bubble of intensity start moving further east. on thursday, look at what we now have in that eastern half of the country. a big pool of relatively cooler low pressure. and that is going to put a block and that is going to allow that heat wave to pause in its tracks. and then t

beryl will strengthen again into a hurricane category one before making landfall tomorrow near corpus christiistie several coastal counties have issued evacuation orders as texans prepare for the impact. cnn's elisa raffa has the latest, what is it looking like, lisa? yeah. we're waiting for the latest from the national hurricane center, hurricane hundreds or flying planes into it right now, it's still tropical storm sitting about 220 miles south and east of matagorda, texas. and we are expecting it to strengthen today because these water temperatures here are incredibly warm. it's been dealing with some of that drier the last day or so, but we think it should be able to fight it off today and become a category one hurricane, possibly rapidly intensifying ripe before it hits landfall, we're looking at impact starting even as soon as later on today, hurricane warnings are in effect for a lot of the texas coast, tropical storm warnings even go as far north into houston. so again, we'll continue to find some of this as we go into the day-to-day, some of these outer bands coming in with the storm
