corso. >> happy new year. i have a couple of presentations on the agenda today. the first one's just kind of an overview of the instructions of the budget from the mayor's office. so budget instructions were released after last meeting, on december 16, so that's why they're being presented in this meeting. so i wanted to give you a brief process of the background, instructions for us, timelines, some information on some new budget legislation, and then open it up for any comments or discussion. so kind of overview of the analysis process, the department receives budget instructions from the mayor's office in december. the department submits its budget, not just our department, all departments submit their budgets to the mayor's office on december 21. budget hearings are in late june-early july at the board of supervisors, and this is a continuation of the two-year budget process. most departments, that's a two-year rolling process, so every year, we look at the next two years out. last week,

corso. and i'm visiting stations. i visited station 41 and got good feedback and got information back to them on the same day about questions they had. it is very important to keep that communication open. in regards to our class that is currently in the academy, we have 48 recruits remaining out of the 56. not all of them finished. so we have a situation -- and attrition of eight this time. we have completed testing in this week they are doing finalizing training. they will finish the state test next week. we hope all of them pass and we finish with 48. i hope to see you all february 28th. that is incorrect, it's 9:00 a.m., not 10:00 a.m. correct that. the previous class completed a six-month test and they moved to their second assignment. for those who are new in the commission, firefighters to six months on engine and six-month on track. so they get the skills before they are finished probation. so this last class move to the next rotation, whether it was engine or truck depends on where they were. our in-service t

and mark corso is here in the fire department. >> good morning, supervisors, here to present on these two items. the first is approval to accept and expend fiscal year 2018, assistance to firefighters grant in the amount of $612,000. there are few projects that the department was awarded funding for, including battery powered tools, supplementing our hand tool inventory. there is a match of $61,000 that is in the department's budget. the second item is fiscal year 2019 security program from fema. the approval is for the department to expend an award in the amount of 341,625. there were three main projects the department was approved funding for. refurbishment of the rescue boat, the purchase of two watercraft for marine response and variety of marine equipment. there is a match of approximately $114,000 that is included in the budget's department. i'm happy to answer any questions. >> supervisor fewer: thank you very much. there is no report on both these items. any comments or questions from colleagues about fire boats or anything else? seeing none, let's open for public comment. any
