cory smith on behalf of the housing action coalition. it was actual not originally going to speak here today, and i rarely kind of get emotional of these projects. i do so many of them that at a certain point, you become a little bit detached to it, but then, i heard a lot of people prioritize views over homes for people. based on this unit dex, we're talking about 3500 people. that's how many people are going to get to call this place home. 25% of this unit is going to be subsidized housing, permanently. that's 875 people who will have housing security in our city if we build this. one of the things president cohen pointed out earlier is that 40% of those homes are going to be available to neighborhood residents. that's 350 people. there will be 350 people that are currently living in the neighborhood, low and middle-income folks that are presently housing insecure, that like me, are feeling the pressure of all of this, and people don't like it because of their view? i frankly think it's an embarrassment, and if we really are going to p

there's something that cory smith said that struck me, that i thought was good when he said that because someone's xyz, and he's xyz, that person is the best to represent somebody, and it got me thinking that just because someone is an xyz doesn't mean they weren't once before. so i think it's really important for us to all understand that commissioner richards said that it's really important to work with both sides. if you're not xyz, you need to reach over the aisle and understand xyz. the highest level of empathy requires profound purpose larger that the self-kind of understanding. so i am thinking, when he said that, it just struck me that it's really important to be able to identify with people, but that -- if you -- you have to be able to understand people that are different than yourself, and i hope that our commissioners do that. i think we have a planning commission that does that, and i just want to move forward. commissioner fong and commissioner johnson, and approve their nomination to the full board with a positive recommendation. >> supervisor safai: great. and can we do th

cory smith on behalf of the san francisco action housing coalition.pologize it was in director comments before i walked in, but a pending housing accountability act lawsuit, it was filed early this week, end of last week. i have no idea what's going to happen in that case, it's to be determined. i hope that one area we can all agree, we can make better decisions as much information as humanly possible to make that decision. i've talked with folks inside the department, and including an h.a.a. analysis and all the housing proposals that come forward to you. i know other cities have done that. i know in talking with other folks it does not seem overly complicated to be doing, straightforward legal analysis. so, again, if we could get that included in all of these packets, just so when we know coming forward whether or not this is going to be compliant with state law, it just means we remember the conversation now, goodness, more than two and a half years ago at the hearing we had, here until midnight, it was my first-ever one, i was wondering what the h
