. >> good afternoon madame president, cory smith on behalf of the san francisco housing coalition. the accolades of the project speak for themselves and a large amount of housing affordable creating housing stability for a number of folks. we've come to talk about this endlessly. on the specific aspect of air quality, it's been stated it does really need to be emphasized, the number one threat on a macro level to our plan et is global warning and the number one contributor in california is individual car use. when we don't build house close to transit it pushes the population density out. they're growing in sacramento, modesto and up and down the central valley corridor and they continue to commute because we have jobs. so when the cars get on the road and driving two hours to work and from work that's destroying our planet. i know people want to look at it through a lens but the best thing we could do is approve the project and every other project in our city next to our jobs going forward. it's really the only way we can manage on our level as a city our climate goals. thank you

cory smith, let's srt first with those students. do we know how they're doing right now? >> we do. three of those students were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. one of their classmates did suffer life threatening injuries. you sol the telephone behind me. that is actually the bus stop where those kids were waiting this morning. according too police, cars got into an accident right here on the roadway. and the force sent one of the vehicles barreling toward the students. one person said heot one of the kids be tossed into the air after being hi police tried to reconstruct the accident. you ca see the extent of the damage done to this white car. we found one ofts wheels right next to the bus stop west spoke to a student who takes this bus from here. he told us there's been a sense of uneasiness knowing you're so closed to the r and they're on their cell phones relarly. it islike,e're just standing there. >> does this make you think twice about taking the bus? >> yeah. i would rathe just go with my zprenld get dropped off at aschool. >> georgia avenue is no str

. >> good afternoon again, cory smith on behalf of the san francisco housing action co aare alegislation and we're -- coalition and we're in support today. we saw units hit the market for folks and that number went down in 2017 and going down in 2018 and going down again in 2019. what our biggest fear is that we have a year like 2011 in the ner future where there's housing built city-wide in order to make sure that the projects keep moving forward and they need to be able to maintain the rules that were given to them throughout the original negotiation process. one other quick fact to state on there, yes, it's 4,000 plus total units in there but as mentioned earlier by one of the other speakers in support, there's 600 subsidized units, that is not insignificant. that's not scraps for folks that need a place to live, that do have housing uncertainty in this city. a combithaig combination, that n franciscoians who will have an opportunity to live here. so we do have thousands of homes on the chopping block here, that's the reason that the planning commission approved it unanimously last we
