basically coughlin coughlin believed that global communism could not be fought simply at the spiritual level that there had to be a level of paramilitarism in place in order to stop what he says persecutions of catholics in spain and and mexico and so basically while one's ideas are aggressive they're not militaristic yet coughlin changes all that coughlin takes this from britain. to budapest to rome when it lands in the united states and coughlin gets a hold of the christian front idea. i argue. it's he who paramilitarizes the christian front. so in the book, what i try to do is i i what i've seen is that most historians who who look at this and have looked at this topic. i viewed it from the position of political history, and i think i think you miss a great deal if you do that. i believe that. these folks are grounded in theological commitments that need to be unwrapped and understood and only when you unwrap those theological commitments. can you understand why they end up paramilitarizing? and so what i see and write about in the book, is that these catholics who cogle is talking

pretty much on a monthly basis chief coughlin had mentioned some of the shared spaces and other issues that fire prevention is dealing with. about fee deferrals and local businesses. so we're very much involved in that process. improving core services and we're very much aligned with those priorities from the mayor's office. internally as well. a number of our priorities just kind of a general highlight. but just supporting front line e.m.s. and fire you expression services and also the community paramedics services that have been increasing on an annual basis and we're seeing the good work from those initiatives pay off, but just making sure we're sufficiently supporting the employees and those programs. supporting departmental employees through mental health initiatives, physical and other initiatives that just support the work force civilian and uniform. internal and external equity, you know, expanding diversity equity inclusion initiatives incorporating equity to all areas so expanding those equity efforts internally in the department. we talked about this this quite a bit at prev

coughlin will be presenting a detailed report to you at the end of my report on the slow streets and shared spaces as requested. at the airport, i'm going to be meeting with adc brown this thursday. it's an introductory meeting and part of me becoming acquainted with the airport personnel i've been working with as well as operations. the airport conducted their medic interviews and have selected candidates. adc brown has worked for the assignment office to provide adequate staffing at the airport for next year. we have a number of unassigned firefighters and paramedics going down there. for the next year. and we also have the -- [indiscernible] assigned to airport division. there were no major incidents during this last operational period. and finally, homeland security. adc brown continues her good work on acquiring grants to supplement our training and equipment needs. she's worked with the fema task force to select two handlers and pair k-9, captain miller with a new k-9. he worked hard for the planned events, which significant ones were cancelled, but she also provided liaison an
