and maybe extreme northern montgomery county into frederick county, washington county.out for that. the patchy ice is due to that moisture from yesterday. they got that sloppy snow, but look at this. we have a new winter storm warning for this evening into wednesday afternoon. it includes all these counties including howard, montgomery, loudoun, shenandoah valley, much of the panhandle of west virginia and western maryland. this is for icing tonight. i think there's a possibility we could get a half inch to as much as a quarter to half inch of icing on the elevated surfaces. that's rain that falls, freezes on tree limbs and power lines. and that's going to be causing problems, especially in the untreated surfaces like sidewalks or pavement that has been icy and delays will be likely tomorrow. much of the region is in the 20s to near 30 degrees. and hour by hour through the day today, we'll have our temperatures getting above freezing by mid morning. by noontime, partly sunny, the upper 30s. that's hovering near 40 degrees during the afternoon. then tonight is when the i

, prince george's county, howard county, northern anne arundel, continuing to pull away. a few sprinkles lingering in southern prince george's county, into calvert. here is how much ice fell overnight. just a light glaze south and east of washington. there's washington. generally a tenth of an inch to a quarter of an inch fell in the northern and western suburb, but farther north and west, from montgomery county, loudon county, over a quart of an inch. a few spots in frederick county, some of the spots in washington, panhandle of west virginia, got half an inch of ice. and that, with some of the weaker trees, causing some of the tree limbs to snap off, coming down, and bringing power lines down. so as a result, we've got those thousands without power north and west of the metro area now. and as we look at temperatures, it is getting above freezing. in the mid-30s around the region and we'll get even warmer this afternoon. the next threat is ice falling out of the trees as we get a rapid melting into the afternoon. and maybe a storm for the weekend. we'll look at that, too
