our report tonight from cnbc's courtney reagan. >> reporter: with holiday windows already up at macy's on state street in chicago, it should come as no surprise that thanksgiving this year will look more like this than this. as retailers begin a new holiday tradition. >> shopping early isn't for everyone. but a lot of customers have asked for that option. that convenience. >> reporter: in order to give the customer what they want and get first crack at limited budgets. walmart, sears, kmart and toys "r" us plan to open at 10:00 on thanksgiving day, some at 9:00. >> nothing wrong with sneaking out to do a little shopping and get it done and over with. >> reporter: not everyone is in a rush to stop stuffing themselves with turkey and start stuffing stockings. >> there's plenty of time to get all the presents purchased between thanksgiving and christmas. >> this year the race is on to get people to shop, not only early but often. >> whether it's a door buster at the beginning of the morning are o the end of the day. they want to keep the consumers in the stores shopping, so they can gain

i'm courtney reagan at laguardia airport.ngs look vastly better today than they did yesterday but things are still a little behind schedule after returning to business 49 hours after closed due to the storm. us airways is landing just one flight late today. jetblue not flying at all in or out of laguardia. southwest expects to fly about 50% of a normal schedule. american plans to run close to 100% but their first flight did not depart until noon. delta had the very first flight off the ground this morning shortly after 7:00 a.m. and in 15 flights take off by 9:40 a.m. >> we'll be up to about 70% of our full schedule today, which we started -- we had the flights coming in. we're now ramping back up but we will be at full schedule tomorrow. >> reporter: getting the employees to the airport has been a little difficult for all of the three major airports. delta said it had to get kind of creative. united actually flew in a couple hundred employees from houston to help out here at laguardia today. back to you. >> courtney reagan o
