courtney rennie, student at community college. thank you very much for joining us. kate? >> mercy medical center, the main hospital in town, tells us they're not expecting any more patients. so that's at least a little bit of good news, that all patients are accounted for at this point. we have gotten a lot of different numbers, brian, how many patients are in various hospitals. but as you know, to recap, we do know that 13 are deceased and a number of injured, more than 20 injured, at various hospitals. >> this is always a spooky business because we're watching people walk through the parking lot and we watch the k-9 officer with his dog. it usually means that one of those cars belongs to the gunman and at a commuter campus, it means that, you know, there's usually a car per student. there's a corresponding student inside, perhaps among the students who won't be going home tonight. what a sad and solemn place in the middle of some gorgeous country there at a bend in the risker in oregon. >> we do know, to reiterate, just one single person responsible for what is all of t

courtney rennie, back with us, the student on the phone. courtney, last we spoke, you were getting off the bus to be reunited with your family. how did that go? what more have you learned? >> it was -- it was incredibly emotional. my sister crying and students that i know that go out there. i was just really amazed how the community came together, you know. it just felt really real, as soon as i got off the bus, that this just happened. people just lost their lives. it's just overwhelming. >> yeah, we just talked to a 25-year-old, four-year navy veteran, came back, he was born and raised there, he's going to community college there. he caught a glimpse of this 20-year-old gunman, not a guy he recognized from any of his classes. but we're going to be hearing stories like that for the rest of today and into tomorrow and for weeks to come. what else -- have you run into anyone who has said anything anecdotally, knew him, witnessed anything? do you have -- is there anyone you've heard of who isn't accounted for? >> no. the only thing that i've h

this is from a student courtney r renny, second year human services student, my class was in jackson hall away from where the shooting was. i heard what sounded like a car backfiring. you don't even think that's somebody shooting a gun. two or three minutes later a teacher came in and said we were on lockdown, we needed to turn off the lights and draw the curtains and sit in the corner. we thought it was a drill. then my sociology teacher came if and said it was real. this coming from a 23-year-old student courtney renney. a lot of panic in this post, brian. i'm reading ahead. i don't really know how to react. they prepare you for stuff like this in elementary school and you never think it's actually going to happen. that's a telling statement, too, because these are 23-year-olds who have grown up with active shooter drills. my kids go through them every year, every elementary school in this country now has active shooter drills. >> and a cottage industry, sadly, of classroom equipment has exploded. the whiteboard that can be taken down from the wall of a classroom and used as a kevl
