i'm reed cowan. >> i'm gianna franco. and let's actually get right to it as we start off with some breaking traffic news in the area of fremont this morning. where a major traffic accident unfortunately that car there you see caught on fire. and it is just a mangled mess there. now sitting in the roadway at the intersection of thornton and peralta boulevard. it happened just after midnight and this is a deadly crash and you have an investigation under way. in addition to that, there's cite a bit of clean-up that needs to happen in and around this area. there's a lot of businesses here. this is a very busy area that is well traveled for the commute in the morning as well as throughout the day. we do not have any word as to when lanes will open up. and we'll let you know. in the meantime, again, fremont boulevard is completely shut down between thornton avenue and me real that boulevard. not too far from some public transit agencies near there as well as you might see some activity with some schools nearby. so as far as tra

good morning, everybody, i'm reed cowan. we hope the drum beat in your heart says you can.re glad you are with us. >> i loved how in sync they werewhen they were doing the drums. i'm gianna franco. a live look outside on what you can expect as you head out and get the thursday started. and you know last hour we showed a couple of different cameras where you can see the clouds and hovering over the bay. and it's still kind of the same thing. i'm kind of hoping that they sort of drift away, jessica. clouds, clouds, go away. like the rain. right? >>> but it is cool and it is cloudy out there. you can barely see salesforce tower. keep the mind salesforce towertops off around 1,000 feet and right now the cloud layer is right around there hanging out. luckily visibility at the surface level is not bad. this morning no issues on roads. getting into the city. however, i will say these cloudy skies definitely don't make for the most beautiful photos by any means, this is may gray in full force. for anyone who's visiting from out of town, this is a very normal thing during this time

i'm shawn chitnis and still waking up in for reed cowan. it's a busy friday though not just nationally but locally here. we have some serious issuesen on the roads. >> a crash out there for several hours now. we're talking about northbound 101 if you are commuting along the peninsula, you know, the not so good news is lanes are blocked. at least only one lane is open at this point. they did open up that left lane just moments ago. north 101 at san antonio road. unfortunately, one person died in this crash. so it is a fatal and it's a deadly crash. you have got the investigation under way. it happened just before 3:00 this morning. two cars and a big rig involved. and traffic is still slow as you head through that area. stick with 280 in the meantime or el camino real as an alternate. it's friday so less cars on the roadway anyway as we get a bigger perspective here on 101 coming out of san jose. so just a heads-up though if you are taking that ride, you are going to see some brake lights this morning. >>> all right, gianna. another live loo

i'm reed cowan. >> i'm gianna franco and might be bit tough as you head out the door. to traffic right now. especially for our friends and commuters traveling through san jose this morning. >>> this is a live look at northbound 101 in san jose. you see that big rig toppled over. it's been out there for several hours. it's blocking the connector to northbound 880. northbound 880, that connector is also completely shut down until further notice. they've got to clear this out of the lanes and a lot of debris in the roadway as well. a lot of sand barrels were damaged in this accident. so just be careful as you head through there. traffic is starting to slow down just a little bit and again with tow crews on scene hopefully they'll get this big rig upright and get it out of lanes. now let's look at the maps right now and kind of show you how slow it's getting on the northbound side of 101 almost backed up to the 280 and 6780 connector. so still bearable for the most part for the commute but if you want maybe stick with 87 or 280 as the alternate. >>> all right, a live look
