craig melvin on the ground here in minneapolis because in a few hours in the white house behind me derek chauvin will learn his sentence for the murder of george floyd. he faces a maximum of 40 years in prison. according to the minneapolis star tribune he may become only the second minnesota police officer in modern state history to serve friday time for killing a civilian on the job. we'll goat that in just a moment. we start with the breaking news from the justice department. they are expected to announce that they are filing a lawsuit challenging georgia's new voting restrictions. we'll take you there live. i want to bring in jane who has been on vote watch, covering a lot of the new voting laws that have been passed in state legislatures all over. so what do we know about this particular announcement and can you walk us through what georgia's restrictions are that are being challenged? >> they have water for people in line, for how the voting operates, and i'm curious about whether or not they go after the punishments as mark said in the last hour. the sort of restrictions they have
