liz crenshaw is here to tell us about it. >> wendy and jim both visa and mastercard are investigating the complete details are not being provided but here is what we know so far. the potential breach involves the hacking of the third party system that processes visa and mastercard transactions. "the wall street journal" is reporting that the third party is called global payments. there is no word yet on when the breach happened and we do not know how many customers are affected although it could be millions of card holders. while visa and mastercard say the breach did not compromise their own systems, visa and mastercard say they alerted the banks about certain customer accounts that could be at risk. their credit card banks are looking for suspicious activity on the accounts and at the same time they encourage card holders to monitor their own accounts and see if you see any suspicious activities and they ask you to call your bank. it's important to note if your account has been compromised federal law protects consumers and so card holders have no, have no liability for unauthorized
