in ocean stirks washington, a bridge collapsed, in crescent city, california, a dockside tavern was destroyed. in hilo, hawaii, 12 1/2-foot waves overran the waterfront. waves in rivers and lakes and harbors caused damage. it wasn't extensive damage but caused damage along the gulf coasts of louisiana and texas. just think about how this massive earthquake just really reverberated around the world. if you look again to the map that has the epicenter here, you would think that the extent would just be where the epicenter lines the felt limits go. but in fact when you account for the tsunami effect, it truly was an amazing, amazing amazing inse where mother nature comes together in a massive and violent way. as we think about the devastation, the loss of life, the lost property, you have to ask the question whether or not anything good can come from a tranl did tragedy like the goody earthquake? the answer has to be yes. we came together to help rebuild the worst-hit communities. we rebuilt them to withstand earthquakes and in locations that are protected hopefully from the ravages of future ts

had some good rain from fort bragg to crescent city. 2 1/2 inches of rain. for some. it was good.y a couple a -- only a couple 1/100ths. we'll get sunny, partly sunny later on. there's the line slicing through san jose towards santa cruz mountains. a little bit more off towards the east. 50s on the temperatures. they've been there all morning long. started off with 60s. had some rain, light rain. most of it is gone. you can see a little bit out towards livermore, discovery bay. fremont, milpitas. that's about the end of the system. 30s for some. not really a cold front. it's a cool front. behind that, high pressure is building in. so the breeze will pick up. rainfall totals a couple of 1/100ths. that makes sense. that's probably going to be the extent of it. morning drizzle. light rain, afternoon clearing. rain totals, very light after wednesday. temperatures warm up possibly near 80 by the time we get to the weekend. cloud, sun, afternoon. drizzle, light rain, breezy for some. 60s to low 70s. temperatures will rebound fast. it won't take much. ukiah says clear. there are signs of
