i would like to recognize commissioner ryan crocker. you have seven minutes. >> thank you, madam chairwoman. and my thanks to our witnesses for giving this commission a very useful public launch. i would like to recognize two of our distinguished guests here today, ambassadors, and i would like to say what a privilege it is to be here at the vfw headquarters, one of the great honors of my life was to as a civilian having the eisenhower award. the witnesses have underscored the magnitude of the task. its enormous complexity, its range, and with that task comes also enormous obligations on this commission and all of its commissioners. we have an obligation to the american people. we have a special obligation to the veterans, the hundreds and thousands who served in uniform in afghanistan. we have an obligation to the civilians who served in the thousands as well as civilians who served in other capacities. we have a special obligation that we can never meet to those who did not return, to those killed in afghanistan. i stood at many of th
