that's good news for folks coming from that end of bowie, coming from the crofton area trying to get down route 50. the northbound lanes still closed. take a look at the detour behind me here. they're going to turn you around and force you off on route 50, where you can go toward washington or toward annapolis. you're not going to be able to continue on north on route 3 from this point. take a look at this video. this is the accident that we've been dealing with all night long. it involved three vehicles, a car, a box truck, and a gas tanker. that tanker flipped over, went into the median. fortunately, the main gas chamber, the tanker portion of the truck, did not rupture. there was a small leak, about 100 gallons or so of fuel did leak out of the truck. we didn't see that massive rupture that was the fear initially when this accident occurred. they have removed the truck from the scene. it's out of the roadway. they have sand trucks on the scene. they're mopping up the fuel. the part about the reason northbound lanes are still closed is that i'm told that there are fire hoses that a
