. >> thank you, director cronenberg. my name is michael pappas, the executive director of the san francisco interface council and a member of our city's human rights commission. our council was founded actually 23 years ago in response to two crises in the city. a homeless crisis and an earthquake. we received our initial funding from church world service because they wanted to give funding to a group that was interfaith. so a group of faith leaders who were in the mayor's office at that time again met and that was the genesis of the interfaith council. we have 800 congregations in the city and counties of san francisco, as well as their respective jude ca torres and the faith-based social services agents sis that provide essential services to some of the most vulnerable in our community. you're talking about april being the month. like a very long certainlyon, we've extended it into may -- sermon, we've extended it into may. [laughter] it's hard to believe, but i'm looking at one of our partners, and jim turner and dire
