marina crosswalk opening, this is a project we recently discussed. there was a proposed new crosswalk that would connect marina to this pedestrian area. as m.t.a. was starting the project, the department of public works and disability coordinators provided some suggested changes that would have resulted in ain a new desie required additional outreach and significant cost increases. some of the design changes, just to give you a flavor, which have eliminated the current way onto beach street. the servicing project actually started earlier this month. it is trying to get done in time for america's cup. given that schedule, the m.t.a. decided to postpone the implementation of its crosswalk system so as not to interfere. a couple of projects year. marine agreement i will not talk about today. bicycle maintenance, -- work has not really proceeded on this. by the end of next month, if we do not have the ability to proceed, the lincoln disclose that grant and then we can proceed. >> i wanted to ask you if you can keep me in the loop on the mid richmond traf

we're talking about unobstructed visibility on crosswalks. we are talking about cars failing to yield to pedestrians because they are trying to get through the lead because they have been stuck behind vehicles letting off passengers that are unloading goods. because there is not proper maintenance. the loading zones are not properly used, and more. these are all medical issues if people follow the code -- of these issues can all be mitigated if people follow the code and it is enforced. regrettably, it is not. that is the failure of action on the part of cpmc and city agencies and result in adverse impacts from the use intensity that are not considered or not mitigated. it should be pointed out that metrics other than los can do a good job of looking at adverse effects on the community, as opposed to just looking at impacts on other vehicle traffic. the second point is that there was an ss position wastr 13 that the significance criteria address all modes. that is speaking of someone who uses two of the three modes and used to use the third m

it walked across castro street from harvey milk plaza and while in the crosswalk, he was hit by a bicyclist and died several days later. he is survived by his wife and son. there has been a lot of discussion around bicycle safety, but it also points out the continuing need that i'm sick of doing in mori m's for pedestrians killed in crosswalks. i know some of my colleagues are as well. enforcement and education are important and that's not just for bikes but automobiles as well. it also points to the combat -- the continuing need to invest and upgrades for pedestrian safety of our intersections. we have a city that despite all the work we have done is still in large part designed for cars. castro and market, for those who have crossed it multiple times a day, is incredibly wide. at 16 and market, it's a disastrous intersection. 15th and sanchez, a horrendous intersection. you just keep going on and it requires the best -- requires investment and prioritization in making these expenditures because it does save lives when you reduce crossing distances and increased visibility for all users of
