so you know crosswalk safety very important. and this morning, we have officer becky soule with the baltimore county police department to talk to us about safety for kids. good morning thank you for joining us. >> good morning. >> reporter: talk to us a little bit. what do parents and students need to remember about crosswalk safety as they're heading to school in the morning? >> well, when people are walking, i -- strongly suggest that where there's a crosswalk in place, especially when like we have here with the automatic signal, to press the button and it is the law that you have to wait for the signal to change that indicates to start crossing which is walking figure. when the hand the solid hand pops up, that means to stop walking as you can see now, we have a walk signal. when the hand begins to flash the flashing rod hand that's a warning -- red hand that's a warning and a countdown will pop up. that indicates to pedestrians they may still enter the crosswalk but they have to use caution. when the red is solid red nobody
