the crosswalk may be built after occupancy. it may have caltrans approval. it may have mta approval. people may remove the parking on the street that is currently a physical impediment to people coming down the street. they may get the barrier installed at sterling street and the crosswalk removed. what we do know is the project sponsor was adamant at the meeting she had with the people in the public last week that they plan on having people working there in august because they can rent it. and the rent level is one of the highest rent levels in the city right now for tech offices south of market. this is near caltrans station. so we are to hope that no one has an accident. we are to hope that the crosswalk is there by the time people start coming to the office. there is a lot of incentive to rent this out at $70 a square foot for tech offices. because the planning department botched this one. they did. they didn't look at these issues of creating a hazardous building and hazardous access. the city is going to be implicated in what happens there. i just was

we did 28 continental crosswalks and over a hundred since january 1st of this year the last of which was painted by the mayor this morning at the corner of geary boulevard and thank you supervisor mar for joining us out there today. so that effort is moving quickly likewise we actually lowered the speed limit on fulton street between arguillo and the great highway and that's just gone into effect where that tragedy crash involving the motorcyclist took place today and we're looking to construct at least 11 miles of new bike treatments whether they be upgrades to bike lanes or new bike lanes or improvements like cycle tracks and the separation, a physical separation of cyclists and traffic has been going on for the last few weeks and many of those cycling corridors are also high crash corridors and also effort to improve reliability and travel time on the busiest muni routes and whenever we build out these corridors we improve sight lines and rearrange the parking on these streets and we were able to create bulb on some of the trickier scene of intersections and will be constructing o

if you look outside in the crosswalk now even the city engineer have brought solutions to these types of issues. i could see the improvement for the crosswalk right outside city hall on polk street will be completed soon and again it's one of those things i feel our effort to bring the zero vision policy has brought a lot of awareness to all of us and not only in this and city engineer and it is law enforcement, so this month is distracted driving awareness month and i hope this legislation shifts the driving culture so we focus on driving and prevent needless deaths and tragic collisions. when i introduced it earlier or about a month ago i did mention there are limitations in how much of this can apply locally versus what the state may have to do and i was already in discussion with state legislators that represent san francisco to see if they actually could carry a bill at the state level which would make this concept of tour bus drivers not providing the narration a much more powerful solution to what is happening now, so again i hope that my colleagues will be able to support this

there's a crosswalk down this way but i've seen people walk crossing outside the crosswalk both here and further down in that direction. so people do crosswalk and if traffic is moving briskly, quickly, it can lead to a fatal accident. let's take a look at the video around 10:45. investigators say a man in his 20s was walking east across delaware avenue. he was hit and killed by the driver of an suv. the fatal collision happened in the 700 block of north delaware avenue near penn street. police are searching for the driver of the suv. the problem though they do not have a license plate or a real good description of the vehicle. the only thing they're telling me is that it is a dark-colored suv that sped off heading northbound on delaware avenue. so if you have information about that, you're asked to call police. we've been checking into some of the other fatal accidents here on delaware avenue as i mentioned. it's not an uncommon occurrence. we'll talk more about that at the bottom of the hour. live in fishtown jesse gary nbc 10 news. >>> also new this morning in philadelphia dozens
