a bold crowdfunding talked about having the largest crowdfunding website and seeing it as genuinely ane of funding and how difficult it is nowadays to raise the money. i think financing is the absolute crucial question for this sector. the amount of financing that is available to take the risks that are necessary, we need that kind of climate in the u.k. we have things like the enterprise investment scheme, specifically designed to allow you to take risky investments in small startup companies. we need to continue to look at the tax regime and encourage investment. crowdfunding is definitely coming of age. government can help as well. where do you stand on the neutrality? neutrality? >> it is interesting that the german commissioner wants the digital job. it shows this shift in terms of europe understanding that tech is now front and center. net neutrality, we have an open incident code. operators and mobile signed it and we hope virgin will sign it. you don't block people on the basis of anti-competitive behavior. we'll also need to leave room for innovation and the internet. america

they are finding their startup capital through crowdfunding. crowd is looking for more than financial returns and maybe the funding vehicle needed to get some of these great ideas off the ground. i asked indiegogo's co-founder and chief development officer danae ringelmann about the kinds of campaigns she is seeing on the crowdfunding platform. take a listen. >> we are seeing a broad spectrum. we are seeing social innovators, inventors using indiegogo that want to launch their products and businesses. we have seen musicians and artists using indiegogo to go on tour. we are seeing a lot of nonprofits and individuals asking for money for personal causes like paying for a funeral. >> i want to focus on the social impact. it seems that venture investors are fundamentally seeking a return. the investors you are bringing in are sometimes seeking more than that. they want to do good and do well. we all want to do that. it's interesting those sort of investors you're seeing. >> we are seeing campaigns like a young company creating dolls that are emulat

lower cost, simpler entities. >> you are involved in crowdfunding, internet banking. what do you see as the big moneymaker for you? >> i think the crowdfunding will the funding circle is a spectacular success already and continues to grow. >> how big can it become? >> of a few billion. it can't be hundreds of billions. >> howdy you feel about -- >> you need simpler banks. >> we still come back to the banks. it is not going to be more broad. readve you ever tried to the bank accounts? most of the directors of the banks haven't. it is impossible to understand. there are footnotes written in what might as well be ancient aramaic. nobody can control them. simplicity is desperately needed. the opposition to it is high because there are so many vested interests. but the damage keeps coming. what we have just seen this morning would be 10 years ago inconceivable. the ceos of all those banks would have been gone this morning. now, nothing. you are talking about risk-based reviews and similar stuff. >> how much of this is impeding the economy? >> there is money being lost. tha

in just five years, online crowdfunding sites like kickstarter, go fund me, or indy gogo, have helpedsed billions of dollars for tens of thousands of projects. a campaign on indy gogo raised more than $700,000 in a month to give bus driver karen klein a vacation after video of her being bullied by students went viral. >> i had a lot of reservations s about putting it ounl. >> reporter: jealousy swruk man is sam's older brother. he put together their kickstarter campaign. >> i don't remember the first time they told me about it. it was something sam talked about a lot, but when we went on to year too 2 and he started talking about scenes and i started asking more questions about it. and i kept hearing the same scenes come up. and i said, "do you have a plot for this worked out?" and he did. and i think i realize bferred we tried to do it in a d.i.y. way it might be best to start and go big. >> reporter: they were on a mission to raise $50,000 to fund the movie and a documentary of the making of the film. just today, they reached their goal, thanks to some help along the way. on hallowe
