cr the's the shortest white house would be willing to accept? a three-week cr offered in the senate, some democrats have said they would vote for that. what's the minimum? >> i'm not going to negotiate that in the national press. i think the reality is that there is a bill that passed the house and the president said he would sign to give us four weeks to continue the daca negotiations. we have now agreed to reduce it to three weeks. we think that is a concession on our part, leader mcconnell awful to that, i hope -- leader mcconnell offered that. >> the members of the administration were saying they felt pretty confident we would be able to avoid a shutdown by today. you have been on capitol hill today beating with lawmakers. based on those conversations, where are you at now? again,l, i was -- everything in this bill are programs democrats have advocated for. i will not get back to the job of handicapping what i think the chances are today. the said, i am hopeful democrats recognize the harm they are doing to our border patrol agents, the harm

get people on board with cr? >> i think again, one of our challenges, i don't think it is clear what the democrats are asking for. there is not text they're asking republicans to bring up. i think they believe for political reasons it is better for them to force a shutdown. the president is continuing to reach out to them and will continue to do so throughout the day. he's actively on the phone. what is the solution that you guys think would be necessary? we franklyhinkhat giving the children'sealth insurance programs and the democrats have asked for reauthorized for six years with something that would attract democratic votes. unfortunately that's not the case. >> if i could to you, the other big story has been the cfpb and your request for zero funding. are you working to reduce spending there? what is the future of the cfpb, what is english's current role there? i won't speak to litigation with miss english. we do intend -- we asked for no money this quarter over at the cfpb. we didn't think it was necessary.
