cruz went in there and worked it pretty hard. cruz has people who have won caucuses before. as a matter of fact, most of his wins with the exception of texas and oklahoma have been in the caucus states. he's got operatives who know how to do those things and are special. they are republicans only. it's a very targeted list. he may get as many as 26 delegates. he won every congressional district there by the time they finished. that's a big win. the others tonight, i think louisiana is the real primary and i think trump probably wins that and if he does -- >> has a commanding lead. >> and he should. trump made a mistake of not spending much time in kansas. the flyover strategy, the no television advertising, not being in the state much, these caucus people take things very seriously. >> let me follow again on one thing. let me ask our producers. do we have, if we can show the vote total for maine now with the polls have closed there? do we have even the partial vote, it would be helpful to show that and the percentage that are reporting as of this hour. there we have it. the

senators rubio and cruz duking it out. rubio's campaign accusing cruz of dirty tricks in hawaii. so cruz's hawaii campaign sent out an email titled, wasted vote. big trouble for marco rubio it reads. advisors tell him to drop out. now the cruces campaign's email one source only, cnn story, that said some of rubio's advisors want him to exit the race. this is to say people from rubio's own team, before florida takes to the polls. here is senator rubio himself. >> i look like ted cruz's campaign has been putting out emails in places like hawaii telling people about it. we saw that with ben carson earlier. it is just not true. right now no one has clear path to 1237 delegates. >> i did not know it was ben carson-style ads, rumor taken as fact to try to dissuade those in caucus. hawaii is a caucus. >> yeah. they don't start voting until 11:00 p.m. eastern. so, we put that out there. email from the cruz campaign, saying that, spreading this around. this has happened before. it is unfortunate the kind of thing they have done throughout the campaign. deirdre: cruz responded to it on cam

cruz an insider. and he's been trying to run on the outsider message, just like donald trump. so if you're doing the net gain and negative here, how does this calculate for a ted cruz? >> well, what we've seen is the establishment is coming to ted cruz, because they so fear a trump candidacy. and i also think and have seen the establishment's -- day begin to look at ted cruz's agenda. you know, what he's running on. and he's talked about balancing the budget, going to a 10% flat tax rate, having better relationships with israel, strengthening that relationship, rebuilding and building the military. and what the republicans need to ask themselves is what -- will they not work with ted cruz on? and the answer is really none of the above. and so the donald trump candidates presents such a unknown to them, so markets don't like unknowns. they like stability. political parties don't like unknowns either, because they don't know if a trump candidacy, if that's going to be -- establishment donors who normall

tonight, that cruz, he couldn't kill off cruz because cruz is alive and very well, thank you, how much of this goes back to what my colleagues were talking about sort of a dicey debate performance the other night in detroit, maybe outside mitt romney factor, show us your tax returns, he's not what he appears to be, et cetera? >> i don't think that the mitt romney deal really did a thing to trump. what i do think hurt trump is that debate. that debate, especially when -- ted cruz didn't help donald trump. what really hurt i think were the hard facts that came up when wallace or kelly, i don't remember which one, put up hard facts and he had them in front of him and i think that really hurt him in an area where people are concerned which is his knowledge on policy and different issues other than just stating rhetoric. i think it really wounded donald trump, that debate in detroit. >> real quickly on the democratic side there were three races up for grabs. hillary clinton wins louisiana but had some problems in kansas and ultimately nebraska to bernie sanders. so the sanders folks would s

i would say that cruz has a real shot at it. probably a better shot than you might have thought three or four weeks ago. watching people like jeb bush rally to cruz is a very interesting phenomena, both because of the degree to which the washington establishment did not like cruz until he was the only alternative. but also, i think the question is about to become the next few days, does cruz become the insider candidate, and does that actually start to backfire? i mean, i think he's got to walk a pretty tight rope here between gathering up all of these folks and remaining an outsider, because it's clear that the majority of republican voters want an outsider. they don't want the establishment picking the candidate. >> how how much do you read into these polls? i look at the latest fox news poll, and one thing that is pretty evident is that when it comes to the general election, ted cruz can beat hillary clinton. john kasich can beat hillary clinton. but not so with donald trump. donald trump has been saying he's the guy to beat

what is the cruz path from there? can cruz hit the magic number himself?> we're focusing on wisconsin right now. but i think there's no question over time as other candidates drop out of the race it becomes a different ball game. donald trump obviously -- somebody pay a lot of attention to. you're paying a lot of attention to him. as a result, there are a given of number of people who aren't going to vote for him. as every candidate drops off, it makes it easier for somebody like a kasich or a cruz to rise. that's one of the reasons why cruz is going to win wisconsin, all of a sudden rubio is not involved and helps us. >> if we get to the convention, if donald trump is short of 1237 but he's still in the lead in terms of the most delegates, that does seem to be the most likely scenario here, are you confident that in the convention turned to somebody besides donald trump it would be ted cruz or do you see it opening up for somebody else? >> who knows? it's obviously going to again. if ted cruz would be 50 or 60 votes away, i think they would give it to ted
