to santa cruz where an apartment complex is flooded.mary lee reports from the scene, it is a few blocks west of the santa cruz boardwalk. >> reporter: it is a mess. you can see dirt and debris on the roadway. this is cypress point apartment complex in santa cruz. the good news, the water has receded but look at what it looked like earlier this morning. you can see several inches of water on felix street in santa cruz. the water is covering the roadway. i want to show you the reason why. behind this apartment complex, there is a creek that overflowed. heavy rain caused that creek to flood and that sent water into the apartment complex, and the street. we spoke to a resident who was checking her car to see if it worked and she also talked about her sister who skull was flooded at this apartment complex . take a listen. >> she came out at 3:00 in the morning to check on her car in the water was knee-high. her boyfriend got home from work, he works at the hospital. he said it is flooded really bad. check on your car. >> reporter: earlier th

santa cruz showing almost two inches of rain. if santa cruz gets two, that's four.n loma and santa cruz, uh, bonnie doon, boulder creek, uh, over an inch. san rafael of san rafael gets 106 kentfield. that's an inch and a half. easy. that's two plus for mount tamalpais. napa 1.71. that's a little shocker there. but anyway, you look at it, there's going to be some pretty good rain. the areas that have the upslope, that's the coastal hills. you take this deep moisture, you ramp it up. and what you need is not only the upper level jet stream, but the low level jet stream. by that i mean 5000ft. you take that moisture, you lift it, you cool it, condense it. you can get some hefty totals in a short period of time. and that's why i'm still think the santa cruz mountains around mount tamalpais will probably get the most, uh, amounts have been cut back. they've been ramped up. they've been cut back. i think they'll ramp up again if you're going to the mountains here. uh, that is more about fog today. and wind. snow will be a factor tomorrow, but maybe some eight inch amounts

this is felix street near st cruz, near neri street here in santa cruz, about 1:00 this morning. the last batch of storms dropped inches of water. that, combined with the flow from water from the nearby neri lagoon, caused the water levels to rise rapidly. cars became submerged and five of 240 units at the cypress point apartments complex were flooded in about 15 minutes. >> it went up about four inches, which was it was pretty crazy. my car was right over here and the water line was right at the top of the tires. it's pretty frustrating, unfortunately, because this isn't the first time it happens often in and you feel kind of trapped because the entire complex gets flooded out and then you're just kind of stuck there in the middle of the night. >> some residents who didn't suffer with their homes being flooded had their vehicles flooded, some are inoperable. today, chp officers say there are mudslides and downed trees impacting area roads, and they stress motorists not driving to or through flooded streets such as paulson road in watsonville. >> we're asking the public not to dr

the bomb appeared in the dunes just a few miles south of santa cruz yesterday morning, santa cruz countyheriff's office had to call in the bomb squad as a precaution. the team determined the bomb was not active and they were able to safely remove it from the beach. officials say the bomb likely washed up as a result of last week's storms and all those big swells. we saw pretty interesting. the main street ferry terminal in alameda has reopened this week following more than 2 months of renovations. the project took more than 3 years of planning and was completed on time. officials say the ferry terminals, infrastructure was repaired and replaced to comply with earthquake safety requirements. >> we installed the new pile at the end of the new bridge. new gain weight. >> and a new model pile in the corner so we're no longer resting on much more seismic. please sound. the terminal be very resilient event of an when we need to potentially use this facility to respond. >> the project was expected to cost 10 million dollars, but crews were able to get the job done under budget. well, you never

ted cruz over donald trump in 2016.ree of the candidates i just mentioned. the evangelical candidates. huckabee santorum and cruz. we're going to be keying in on all of those early. almost all the dark red you see on the map these are all the cruz counties. the very dark red. most of them fit that criteria. he won some counties that weren't huckabee and santorum as well. but most of these fit the huckabee santorum cruz. none more dramatically than sioux county in the western part of the state. deeply religious here. and you see cruz won it but the thing you don't see is donald trump's name here. donald trump got 11% of the vote in sioux county. this is the ninth largest in terms of votes produced on caucus night. donald trump was 11%. this was his worst county in the state. remember in 2016 there was a lot of skepticism, resistance to him among evangelicals. the story of the last eight years. that seems to have changed. sioux county will tell us a lot about that story tonight. is trump winning here? how much is he winni
