csx says a third train car was leaking calcium chloride which is a toxic substance. s that leak was plugged shortly of after the derailment happened. the sodium hydrochloride, it's a 15,500-gallon tanker. we believe that about half oflf that had leaked into the rail ra bed and into the gravel and ground underneath it and they'r currently assess what needs to be dug out to make sure it's all captured. since the derailment earlier today officials have been on th scene and monitoring the air air quality in and around the scene. at this point we have discovered no air quality issues. likewise, we have been monitoring any impacts on water and we have not determined any issues with water related to this spill p, either. we continue to operate on metro the way we have all day since this incident first occurred. that means that service suspended from nome a gallon debt. the one station that is closed is rhode island avenue. ave we're advising customers that cs they can use a green line as a a good workaround.und. > now, as far as the impact to and commuters it's going to be

a csx train hypothetically carrying hydraulic acid has just the real at the betty rose station. there are a noble number of casualties so this is a triage set up. let's talk to the hospital emergency manager. give us a little play-by-play of what is going on. >> we don't know the nature of the chemical yet, but we know there will be victims coming this way. we are setting up our entire decontamination sector to make sure we can treat them appropriately and adequately, give a chemical off of them, and then move them to the emergency room, where they will receive emergency treatment. john: how essential is a training like this? >> i can't tell you how critical this is. this is the nation's capital. we are going to have some sort of a hazardous material into the that could happen at anytime, any minute, with any chemical, and you must be ready. these drills are critical. john: this started at 6:00 this morning and will go until 4:00 in the afternoon. you will see first responders, emergency vehicles at different locations. keep in mind, just a training exercise. back to you inside.
