certainly a chaotic day here at cu boulder. campus officials have deemed the us no ongoing public safety threat out here. in the past hour, investigators and campus officials held a press conference to debrief the media as to what was going on. one was a legitimate concern, the second one was a hoax that led to a whole lot of concern. let's break this down. the first one around 9:00 a.m.. police received several 911 calls with a man with a machete in the champion center. the suspect had an altercation building. officers with boulder and campus police arrived on scene. they repeateddedly demanded that the man put down the weapon. he did not. two officers, one from each responding agency fired shots. that man was killed. nobody else on campus was injured. we don't know the identity of that suspect. now to what police are calling an active harmer situation that happened around 1:00 this afternoon. campus police evacuated the umc building on campus officials deemed that to be a hoax. 20 minutes later cu tweeted there were uncommute
