buncombe. 24 in greenville, spartanburg, anywhere from 15 to 20 miles an hourro far today. 33 in culloway, 40's in forest city. 30's in franklin and weaverville. we'll talk about the snow falling right now. how much more will fall and when we return to the 60's in our extended forecast coming up. >> works up to light snow, madison county had e enough to close schools and it is still coming down. zach joins us now live. crews have been working hard out there. working all morning long to make sure the roadways are starting to get clear. you can see the interstate behind me and the primary roads are doing well. the preparations, they started overnight. the real reason at first was due to downed trees because of high wind. then came the snow. it is still flying around me. trubs were laying down brian and salt to melt the light dusting. the bigger issue was the temperatures. once they dropped below the freezing point, that turned snow into ice which created slick and slippery conditions. while no road closures have been enforced all morning long, people traveling through the precaution. >> onl

still 35 in culloway. it looks like the students and professors enjoying the nice bright sunshine on our lester carpet sales skycam network. >> if you look at the distance, they are moving around pretty good. it is 54 degrees so much warmer further south. something else different further south, they are holding onto the cloud cover in the upstate. the rain well south of our region, south of columbia so no threat there. in our western zone, starting to see breaks within these clouds. partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies through the rest of the day. this morning, kind of interesting, we started off with high temperature after midnight in the 50's. continuing to cool down to the 30's this morning. still above normal which is 28 for this time of year. for the majority of the day. a lot of us staying in the low 40's. we picked up two inches of rain at the airport. our departure now more than an inch and a half in the positive territory. flood warning out for this river. this is the french broad. this is transylv
