a culpeper police officer shot cook and according to a preliminary report, that officer was responding to a report of a suspicious person sitting in a car in a church school parking lot. and when the officer asked cook for identification, he says she rolled up the window, catching his arm inside and drove off, dragging the officer down the road and that led to the officer opening fire. a man who claims to be an eyewitness says that officer's arm was not caught in the window. police continue to investigate, os does a special prosecutor. james jennings started a facebook page and an online petition to keep the case in the public's mind. >> my focus is to ensure that the details, all the evidence, all the testimony, all the reports, all the eyewitness commentary, all of the ballistics information, is all brought out in an open courtroom. >> virginia state police have not given a time frame as to when that investigation will be done. the special prosecutor in fauquier county said it will be the end of june before the grand jury reached a decision. >> the state of maryland wants to put a st

culpeper pretty much feels the same, gaithersburg temperatures feel like the lower 80s.ff a whole lot tonight it. looks like it's going to be kind of one of those mild muggy overnights for us. no thunderstorm activity this evening. remember yesterday, last night we had a line of thunderstorm moving down into pennsylvania, nothing like that today. high pressure has been building aloft and what that tends to do over time is it warms the upper levels of the atmosphere and it really suppresses most of the thunderstorm activity. we haven't seen that tonight. we will, however, be seeing it tomorrow late afternoon and tomorrow evening. down to the south we go. this is tropical depression beryl here, a lot of very, very heavy rain. a couple thing are happening. beryl was tracking down to the southeast, made its arrival here into jacksonville basically in the extreme southern sections of virginia and it's on moved into southern virginia -- and it's moved into southern virginia, northern florida and it's becoming stationary. this northwestern quadrant of florida picked up between

area temperatures, 61. 65 in the district. 61 in culpeper. beautiful day. bright sunshine. chris, please be blue sunshirisp baby blue sunshine. >> the issue doing on the streets of mount vernon. police found a man's body in a car. that is where gramm carter is live with the latest from the investigation. -- brianne carter. >> police say they got as far around 11:30 last night. they were originally called to this neighborhood for a noise complaint. authorities are not saying what was occurring at the time when officers got here on the scene they found a man with an upper body gunshot wound inside of a car. the man has only been identified as of man and his 19in his 40's. a very heavy police presence including k-nine units. it just a little while ago authorities told us they are hoping that the car will help lead than to the people responsible. they did see people leaving the scene at the time of the incident. police also saying they have no motive in this case. still a lot they are looking into. very active investigation. anyone with information is asked to call the police.
