an erat trick driver crashed right into frankie williams cruiser monday night in cumberland. >> . >> reporter: other drivers calling for help after spotting danger in millville on monday night. >> he's made contact with a tractor trailer and we're doing like 20 miles an hour. >> reporter: moments before a wrong way driver slammed into trooper frankie williams' patrol car, 911 calls came into the cumberland county 911 communications center about an erratic vehicle. >> this guy is all over the road. >> reporter: state police say the 31-year-old trooper was responding to those reports of an erratic driver when a red toyota corolla slammed into williams troop car head on. both he and the other driver, 61-year-old lloyd rudley also died in the crash. investigators are trying to determine why rudley was driving so erratically. at least initially, it doesn't appear that alcohol was a factor, but nothing is being ruled out. >> a very intense time, you know, everyone was obviously very emotional. >> i checked with new jersey state police this evening about funeral arrangements for trooper wil

"action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the port norris barracks in cumberland county where that trooper was stationed. katherine. >> reporter: matt, trooper frankie williams and another driver were killed in that crash last night. so far police haven't released a whole lot of details about that other driver. but we do know that trooper williams was only 31 years old when he was killed last night in the line of duty t he was assigned here to the port norris station. now let's go video from camden. this was the scene overnight outside cooper university hospital. the procession as the trooper's body was taken from the hospital. camden county officers stopped to salute the fallen trooper. williams was from atlantic county, a member of the 156th state police class which graduated this past january. the crash in millville happened just before that 7:00 p.m. but the road was closed for hours for the police investigation as investigators searched the wreckage and gathered evidence. at 6:59 p.m. state police say a man in a toyota corolla traveling southbound on 55 crossed the grass

and also a picture of a man they say is wanted for a homicide that happened yesterday morning in cumberlandnty. police are looking for this man, 32-year-old jeremiah monell. he's wanted for the murder of his estranged wife. friends of the victim, 36-year-old tara o'shea say for years she suffered abuse at the hands of monell and filed for restraining orders. >> you don't know how many times that she came to my house beat up. >> reporter: it was just after 8:00 yesterday morning that police say they responded to a home on raymond drive in commercial township cumberland county. there they found the victim unresponsive. according to friends monell slit o'shea's throat in front of their 12-year-old son. state police released information about monell late last night but before that those close to o'shea were looking for him. they say they want justice for their friend. they describe o'shea as a fighter. >> for her to get that final restraining order say enough is enough, she'd had enough and that's what i praise her for because she had had enough. >> he needs to be caught. he needs to be punishe

i think the army of the cumberland, because they use this casey's formation and regularly drild in the formation of regiments in and out of formations was very good at it. they did it all the time in the battles at stone's river, chickamauga. they do it very frequently. and almost never have tactical problems. never fall into disarray or lose ground. there are exceptions. if they get hit right in the middle of a passage of lines, get flarchg nked, it's a proble. then it would be a problem anyway. other armies, it all depends on the drill and the real -- how realistic those drills are. not to put too much on the army of the potomac or the confederate armies, but i don't see a lot of sort of -- well, in the summer of 1862, the union armies and confessed rderate ar are fighting all the time. they don't have the luxury of time quite the same way the army of the cumberland had between january 1863 and june when they kick off their first major offensive of 1863. they have almost six months where they do nothing but drill. they learn the new drill manuals. they learn those steps from the bott

the 31-year-old rookie trooper and another driver lost their lives in an accident on route 55 in cumberland county a week ago. williams' death came 11 months after he joined the state police force. >> to see somebody cut down really in the most productive, wonderful time of their life, after being married just two months, is horrible. >> williams was remembered today as someone who always had the most positive outlook, no matter what the circumstances, he is the fourth member of the new jersey state police to die in a car accident in the past 18 months. >>> today former u.s. congressman chaka fattah learned he'll spend a decade in jail for using government money and grants to pay his personal expenses. he learned his fate today. mitch blacher has more. >> reporter: he was stoic and emotionless. when he came out of the courtroom, he had a confident smile. it could have something to do with what he thinks of his chances on appeal. chaka fattah stands convicted of stealing hundreds of thousands of federal charitable and campaign dollars. his convictions include fraud, bribery and racketeering.
