the south bay high school marching band had the honor of playing in the rose parade. did you catch it yesterday morning? cupertinohigh, representing the bay area and really spectacular fashion. nice to see. the group was one of 22 marching bands invited to perform. bands also came from japan and mexico to take part in the 136th tournament of roses parade, all in pasadena, and the skating rink at union square looked a little different yesterday, filled with people wearing summer attire. the annual polar bear skate invites people to put on their swimsuits and hit the ice. a nod to a popular tradition where people jump into freezing lakes or oceans. the bay on new year's day, judges gave out prizes to the most original summer beach attire. i feel like i love this city and i want to support anything that can help this city revitalize. i love downtown sf and i loved union square, and this is just one little thing that i could do to help support downtown. that's an attitude that's good. in the end, this group of participants wearing polar bear hats and an inflatable shark costume took home the top prize. and hopefully
