in curran county, that same organization i was talking to you about the curran civic unity movement p one of knows organizations that made it up was called the community service organization. and the community service organization is where caesar chavez cut his teeth as an organizer, right, before he organized farm workers. and so there was a -- an organization of the c.s.o. in bakersfield. it was statewide organization also spread beyond california as well. and the c.s.o. was one of the early organizationless working through the civic unit movement to gain federal money to fight poverty, right. how do you do that? it's a very nebulous concept. fight poverty. part of it is going into the communities i was describing and try and report on the conditions people lived in. this fellow right there is a man named jesse boyard. and he was active in the cso and he was a community organizer in southeast bakersfield. he did a variety of things from getting ordinary people to vote, getting them to attend city council meetings to be aware how local policies would affect them. again when they got

enda curran there. still with us, gilles moec and john bilton. he's head of global multi-asset strategy and jpmorgan. when you look at this intellectual property, given the turmoil in washington, d.c., what is moving the markets? do people care about this trade war of words? john: i think they do. we've seen that in the price action of the s&p. anytime we see talk in washington leaning towards trimming taxes, markets like it. anytime we see it trimming trade, they don't like it. that has characterized price action. at the moment, it is not just china where we've seen the trump administration rattled the sabr. it has been around nafta, the wall, etc. anything which markets perceive as anti-free trade seems to be having a drag. any we have the talkback on, fiscal measures, tax trimming, markets recover quickly. i would characterize that as markets not focusing too much on this. there's not a lot of other news flow which is driving the s&p right now, so we may be seeing markets overthink this. francine: let me show you a chart on the broader economy

enda curran is joining us now. what are we seeing? exports in double digit growth a lot of times., china, and japan doing very well. much of this is due to the economy.global it's a pretty positive story. it's not just exports indicating that globalization is alive and well. we are seeing foreign investment by u.s. automakers i am china. ford motor's has a big went there in particular, and the trade deals need to be talked about. so, overall, we are in quite a big space. yeah, visually, this shares surging. let's talk about interregional trade though. enda: traditionally it may be very dependent on the u.s. economic cycle in a sense. now interregional trade growth, they are becoming increasingly self-reliant. you can more or less predict what is happening with the u.s. economy and the european economy . now, that is not discounting the u.s., of course. doubt that there is an intrusion today that was not there before. shery: thank you for joining us. ♪ >> trump is discussed trade in the last few hours. .nd the south korean about the $3 trillion mark. saidconomist we spoke to that i
