i'm natasha curry in for susan hendricks. our top story, the search is scheduled to resume this morning for the victims of a mid air collision here in new york. a small plane collided with a helicopter yesterday and both fell right into the hudson river. new york mayor michael bloomberg says it is believed that all nine people from both aircraft were killed. a source close to the investigation tells us that four bodies have been recovered so far. this is how one witness described the crash. >> there was a plane, small plane like a cessna, cutting back toward the jersey side and helicopter heading southbound about 1,100 feet. the plane rolled into the helicopter. hit the side of it. the helicopter went straight down in the water. there was a poof of smoke and a bang. the plane went further down and hit the water by the w hotel and came down in a couple pieces. >>> a law enforcement source tells us the chopper wreckage was found in 30 feet of water while the plane is believed to be even deeper. sonar also discovered a possible

hi, i'm natasha curry. here is the latest out of new york. the search has turned into a recovery operation hours after a tourist helicopter and small plane collided in the hudson river mere manhattan. mayor michael bloomberg says authorities do not believe the crash was survivable. nine people were involved, three on the plane, six in the helicopter. so far two bodies have been recovered, but there is question on whether one of those was from the crash. drivers are having difficulty with the recovery operation because of the visibility. it's in the hudson right now. it's extremely low, hard to see. some wreckage has been found at a depth of about 30 feet. let's get to the phone, someone who witnessed the crash as it happened. david wolf joins us from hoboken, new jersey. tell us what you saw. >> i was sitting on the pier from the hoboken side. i was watching the helicopter, a small tourist-type helicopter that is quite common to see. i was following it. out of the side of my vision i saw a small, private airplane coming from the side and i sa

i'm natasha curry. things are finally getting back to normal at laguardia airport hours after a bomb scare forced an evacuation. passengers were rushed out and flights weren't allowed to land or take off. you can imagine how much chaos that caused on a summer saturday with people heading off for vacations. susan candiotti tells us how it all started. >> reporter: the evacuation of the central terminal at laguardia happened at about 5:00 this morning when the following occurred, according to a law enforcement source close to the investigation, a man who appeared to be intoxicated approached a security checkpoint. the tsa called in the port authority after the source says this man was wearing a backpack and in plain view attached to it were two six bolt square batteries that had wires protruding from it. when the port authority told the man to put the device down, the source said he did not comply and instead appeared as though he was looking to try to push a switch. but nothing happened. the suspicious d

i'm natasha curry. >>> our top story the ntsb says seven bodies have been recovered from yesterday'sidair collision between a private plane and a tour helicopter. both aircraft crashed into the hudson river. divers have been trying to locate the wreckage. most of the helicopter was lifted out of the river today and recovery teams believe they have some positive hits that will allow them to recover parts of the plane. >> at 8:00 a.m. divers got back into the water. during the recovery efforts today they were able to recover most of the helicopter. the helicopter was removed from the water and has been taken to a pier for further examination. that helicopter was in water that was about 30 feet deep. the divers had extremely challenging conditions, with current and visibility at times the visibility was no more than one foot in front of them. >> the ntsb is asking anyone with video or pictures of the accident to come forward to help them figure out what happened. most of the italian tourists have left but some stayed behind to help identify the dead. this is the city's worst air disaste
