country gets underway at 11 o'clock this morning at the oak hill funeral, home and memorial park on curtner avenue. one of the bay area's largest and oldest memorial day events will take place at the presidio in san francisco this morning. that ceremony gets underway at 11 a.m. it will include a bell ringing and wreath laying ceremony. the service of the presidio has taken place every memorial day for nearly 160 years. and there's a new memorial day tradition in the east bay. this is just the second year that the mount diablo rotating beacon will be led to honor all the military service members who died while on active duty. that ceremony will be held at the veterans memorial building in danville. it will also include the singing of the national anthem, the playing of taps. the ceremony starts at sunset, which is shortly before 8 30 tonight. many businesses and most public buildings will be closed today for the federal memorial day holiday that includes all government offices, the postal service in courts, banks and public schools are also closed. no trading on the u. s stock markets today.
