they're saying the cvo hasn't always been accurate. so everyone just look in the other direction please ignore that. the other point that the statement makes is that the president said he would repeal and replace the affordable care act, and this bill doesn't and therefore that's what they want. now there are some in the senate that actually say the bill doesn't repeal obamacare, it's more of a modification of the prepreexisting structure, and that is one of the objections. there are many out there. >> woodruff: stu, what are the pressures on these republicans as they decide what to do about this. >> i think they're in a very difficult position, a rock and a hard place. on one hand, they want to accomplish something. they have the mandate from conservatives, republicans, trump barracks to dtrump backer.

cvo says they will do a medicide expansion. they didn't say which states they would be. i think we should focus on 4 million people who cbo said are currently covered by medicaid. they are going to legitimately need help. the question is would the subsidies available to them under this gop bill, would they be sufficient? i think right now there's a robust debate going on in the united states senate over whether or not it's enough money and it's doubtful to me that a piece of legislation could get through the senate unless and until they put enough money into the actual credit. >> medicaid in its piece on the hill, the senate gop is seeing a path towards obamacare repeal. there are major obstacles ahead. critically senate moderates say they can add that albeit on a slower timetable. a compromise would remove one of the biggest obstacles for the bill. the moderates want to phase out of the medicaid and take seven years while the majority leader mitch mcconnell said two. a little bit of a difference there. what do you think? >> i think it's interesting we're talking about e

well said the cvo score for the republican tax cut bill came out showing the this is the so-called health care bill that the senate bill would quote save one hundred eighty eight billion dollars in deficit spending which basically gives mcconnell one hundred eighty billion dollars to bribe holdout republican politicians to vote for this tax bill masquerading as a health care bill for instance mcconnell could a lot billions towards combating the opioid crisis and red leaning states like ohio and west virginia potentially sweetening the deal for current holdouts like rob portman and shelley moore capito so is one hundred eighty eight billion dollars enough from a column to buy the votes of these holdout republicans i hope not. because this is a good this is an example of how things get done that are not holistic solutions for health care do other problems that we face around the country this is not like this is not like trading baseball cards we're talking about one sixth of the economy we're talking about millions of people who right now can even say you know i'm a big defender of obamacar
