nbc 10's cydney long is live in medford. how long has this guy been on the run? >> reporter: jim, it's been ten days since this male suspect, along with two female suspects, took off in the car from the pharmacy across the street. they drove erratically into this shopping center parking lot, then each of them entered different stores to hide from the cops and hide their evidence. >> he go back a couple of times. >> reporter: the owner of the italian restaurant knew something was wrong last wednesday night. he came face to face with the man police now identified as craig mulehizen jr. >> this individual put several people in harm's way. >> reporter: art waterman said he set prescription blanks and other evidence on fire along with a trash can inside the restaurant bathroom. all this while police were en route to the strip mall. >> it was 6:25 in the evening. the restaurant was full at the time. it could have caused a significant tragedy had it not been ex teng wished. >> i was busy over here. >> reporter: an off-duty officer in the restaurant was able to help work

cydney long spoke with the police and the boy's mother today. cydney, what can you tell us? >> reporter: jim, i can tell you the shooting began on the corner of darion with a war of words, a speeding driver who struck someone on this tight stretch of darion and victim's friends and family. >> i thank god my bone's still living and breathing. >> reporter: his mother is numb and angry. she said the speeding driver hit the brakes last night and emitted gunfire, sending her youngest of eight children to the hospital. >> he pulled the trigger. >> reporter: police say 13-year-old keion griffin was struck in the left leg. another bullet is still in his right arm. it happened after a female driver was yelled at for driving too fast. >> somebody called them the "b" word, and you know, she came back with somebody, and he just like recklessly just shot the whole block up. down through the block. and he was hit. >> reporter: the driver and shooter drove off. police have canvassed the neighborhood and so did we looking for surveillance video of the shots fired. >> he had his whole summer

cydney long spoke exclusively to the young victim. cydney? >> reporter: rosemary, this young man spent half the night in a hospital. he needed stitches and he was being treated by doctors for lacerations as well as a bruised rib. he told me that he took the long way, on a walk to his friend's house last night on purpose so he could catch the coveted pokemon stash on his cell phone, and that's when the assault happened. >> i kept trying to get up. they would just pick me up and throw me back down. >> reporter: 17-year-old michael was just steps from his front door thursday night. he saw two men approaching. >> as i got closer to them, they just struck me in the eye and just tried throwing me on the ground, punching me, kicking me. they grabbed in my pockets. they took my phone. >> reporter: the violent attack left him with a bruised rib cage, a gashed eye and covered in blood, he ran home. >> came back within five minutes. blood all over him. i was like, what happened? >> she called 911. they came. they made like a crime scene down there. >> r

nbc 10's south jersey bureau reporter cydney long joins us live in medford with more on the investigation. fill us in, cyd. >> reporter: he's been on the run for ten days. police in medford identified him this morning. he's wanting for putting dozens of restaurant patrons inside the popular restaurant in harm's way. police say he ran through these doors after he tried to get his hands on painkillers using fake doctors' notes. it was an alert pharmacist that dialed 911 when craig showed up at the register inside. >> with the intent to pass fraudulent prescriptions at the cvs pharmacy, on route 70. >> reporter: what happened next according to the lieutenant could have had fiery and tragic results. police say mulehizen left the cvs, parking lot with two females. the owner of the restaurant confronted him near the counter and said he was acting erratically. >> i saw he was a little strange. >> he was strange? >> i never felt before, the guy in the eyes. >> reporter: he ran into the restroom, lighting fake prescriptions in the trash canon fire to burn the evidence. >> it was 6:25 in the evenin
